    How do you aim?

    I've been trying out some different ways of aiming the last couple games and haven't really settled on something that works well every time. Expirement626 got me into doing the crouch-iron sights-fire and move method and it works pretty well. I've also tried using just the "phantom crosshairs" and the isn't worth a darn since I can't really tell where all the rounds are going, even on burst. I know for a fact that pinning the trigger and burning a full mag isn't worth a darn and single shot doesn't work for me at all unless I have time to set up in a good hidden spot. So I want to pose this question to those of you that constantly do well in the K/D department.

    What method of aiming do you use most often??

    I assume this is for PRM? In CQB, you have to pretty much spray and pray and do the phantom crosshairs on full auto. With the scope out, your movement is restricted and your gun moves slower. I generally try to back off and pin the enemy down to a certain area, such as behind a wall or in a doorway that I can focus on with the sights.

    For medium to long range, crouch and do the sights, unless the target is not going anywhere, then you go prone.

    A few screenies that kinda show the results of «burning a mag». You probably know this already, but seeing the result is fun

    I don't qualify to answer...since my K/D sucks royally.

    However...crouch and iron sights for me more often than not at any reasonable distance if time is short. Prone if lot's of time. Spray & pray when it's up close and personal.

    But as I mentioned...my skill is non-existent so maybe avoid what I do

    It is the rule in war, if ten times the enemy's strength, surround them; if five times, attack them;
    if double, engage them; if equal, be able to divide them; if fewer, be able to evade them; if weaker, be able to avoid them.

    The calculation for those bullet holes and the calculation for the actual hit are different. I can't remember the details, but I figured it out when I was doing some tests long ago. I think I had tightened down the deviation on one of the guns to essentially 0, and I still found that the same random pattern of dots was created, even though I would get a headshot every time.

    I usually have a fairly good K/D ratio and that's about what I do. I'd just add one thing. When you're really up close don't stand still while shooting. You're already gonna be about as inaccurate as you can get standing up and shooting on full auto, but at least if you're moving at close range it's harder for the opponent to keep his crosshair on you. Maybe I'm crazy, but it seems to work for me.

    That just seems silly. What's the point?

    I thought that was in CS:S that the bullets didn't show up where they actually hit. Each bullet in BF is modled and actually flys and collides, so why wouldn't the impact sprite show up in the right place?

    The bullet holes are client-side calculations so that they don't have hundreds of extra items to track over the network. When someone shoots, you will see bullet holes, but they won't be in the same place for you as they are for the other guy. The place the bullet actually goes will be the same, however, because that is quite important.

    Could you show me a screenshot of the bullet model from any of the BF games, please? In-flight or colliding would be even better!

    Oh, that isn't silly at all. I should have thought of that. Now I feel stupid.

    He may have meant modelled in the code, so that it traces the ballistics of each bullet, rather than just instant light-speed rays of death that lots of games use to simulate bullets.
