Question Help: a couple of COMMANDER issues

    Hey folks,

I'm looking for a little advice on a couple CO issues:

[1] When CO'ing what's the easiest way to determine the name/tag of the individual SLs?

Obviously the ones responsive to voip will tell you there names (unless they are in the 33rd, in which case they'll make some bogus line up ), but the non-responsive ones get me. I'm sure that the player list, under squads tab, does not id the SL. Anyway, as a CO, if I'm having an issue with a SL I'd like to be able to know who that issue is with (try to correct the problem, else for reporting infraction)

[2] Is there anyway to address an individual SL on voip?

I seem to be stuck with only the command channel "V", which spams all squads with my blah-blah.

    Any help appreciated.

    Cheers,

    It is the rule in war, if ten times the enemy's strength, surround them; if five times, attack them;
if double, engage them; if equal, be able to divide them; if fewer, be able to evade them; if weaker, be able to avoid them.

I hit my CAPSLOCK key to bring up the list of squads. The SLs should be listed first in each squad.

"V" - talk to ALL SLs.

"B" - talk to highlighted SLs. To highlight, simply click on the squad. You can multi-select squads to talk to multiple at one time. You can also use the number keys to select squads by #.

I just find their number on the CO screen and zoom in on it. Im not entirely sure, but i believe at the 3x zoom the SL is in green. But that may only be the case if you have the squad highlighted before zooming in.

(1)Easiest way to find a name.
I use a different method here. I regularly bring up the spawn screen where you select squads.

Here you see squad names, and who their SL is. Now to look at 1 player I click his name in the list on the left, then he lights up white on the map on the right in the spawnscreen. You can do this with caps lock, but then you can only see the kits of players and not there names. You can zoom in for this as santa says, but that is not handy when you have to find a player on the map by his name.

    (2) is answered

Something to add that many people may not know: when a SL uses the "requesting orders" command on his commo rose, on the caps lock screen you will see an exclamation mark on the right of his squad. That helps me a lot, and lets me see immediately what squads are still awaiting orders.

Do this by holding down Ctrl while selecting. Might be shift if I recall incorrectly but Ctrl is the first to try.

You should actually see the exclamation point on the CO screen next to the squad list as well.

Another use for pulling up the squad spawn (capslock) screen is to see the names of squads. This helps me itentify specialty squads.

I thought this was the case...but I don't get any joy on this. It's as if the "B" key is not mapped? This happens to me in both BF2 & BF2142??

Unless I'm on crack, I'm sure that once I've accepted the CO position I no longer have access to the regular squad screen that shows names and positions...when I'm just in a squad it's trivial to see who the SLs are through the method you mention, but as CO capslock just brings me into the CO screen.

Will double check...but it sounds like I'm missing something here!

    Thanks for the help guys.

It should be the same key you use to talk to your squad when you're in one.

You're probably correct and I'm thinking of when being a SL.

To get a SLs name you'll have to find them on the map and zoom in.

It works just like a competent file manager: use Ctrl to select multiple individual items or Shift to select a range (e.g., use Ctrl to select squads 1, 3, and 8 by clicking on them individually; use Shift to select squads 1-5 by clicking on squad 1 and holding shift when you click on squad 5).

Yep...got that, and that's how I expect that to work, but doesn't.

I'll try remapping the key and see what happens...starting to sound like I've got a local problem or something. Will triple check to make sure its not pebcak...

This was effective for me. Thanks much for pointing out what should have been obvious to me!!

You are absolutely correct. You need to press Enter and select the "Squad" tab to see the list like you would as a non-CO player. It's inconvenient but useful.
