Hello
wasnt sure what section to put this in so put it here
i havent actaully got battle field yet, as i only upgraded my pc enough about a month ago, and at the moment i'm busy with exams (finish june 15th)
i've never played on line before and not really experienced at fps either, i found this website and like the principle of it, as opposed to who has the best mouse to get their personal score up.
ive read through everything on here - but still have a few questions:
firstly, would you recommend bf2 of 2142? i like the idea of bf2 more, as its more realistic (walking robots?) and it would run slightly faster (1gb ram, 2.4ghz and i dunno the video card - that'll probably need replacing)
i dont really understand the scale of tactcal gamer - do many people play on it?
do you think i should ractice on a different server or offline before i go on the tactical gamer one?
there are more questions, i've forgotten them though.

Re: Hello
I enjoy both personally but will say though that I rarely play bf2 since playing with TG on the PoE2 (a mod for bf2) server. I probably have been playing more PoE2 than 2142 lately but I really do flip flop between the two.
Now hardware wise.. I believe you can prolly play either as well.. but even on my old computer 2142 seemed to run smoother. I think they fixed alot of map loading issues in the newer version of the game.
I am sure someone in the community can give you actual stats but all I can say is that usually during prime time.. the PoE2, PR and 2142 servers are full. Not even to mention all the other servers/games that TG represents.. and even this doesnt even give you a good measure of the scale of the community. I dont think I truly realized till I started playing several different games with TG and researching TG on the net.. TG is very highly regarded and looked at as a resource from the gaming community.
Practice never hurts .... but I think if you be sure to read all the stickies/SOP and follow orders from SL/CO you will do just fine.
Just remember to have fun playing and play the "TG Way" and you cant go wrong.

Re: Hello
Hey Im_wfc - I would recommend you to try both bf2 and 2142 (if you can). Personally I just love PoE2 (FREE mod of bf2), but 2142 have also rec'd some great feedback.
Join the TG server either on bf2 or 2142, and as long as you behave yourself in a respectful manner it doesn't really matter how good or bad you are. I would suggest you to read server rules and SOP before joining though.
Welcome, and hope to see you out there...

Re: Hello
thanks, (its actually Lm_wfc btw)
im from the uk - next to hemel, that place with the oil explosion?) - would the srvers be full around the times over here?
and another strange question, do people tend to ito one kitor role, or is it easy to switch? are there people who just fly normally, or drive tanks?
and is 128mb video card quite normal? or is it likely i'll need a new one?

Re: Hello
The POE server tends to run from 8pm to midnight Eastern. I don't know that a 128mb video card is going to get you through though.

Re: Hello
You're from Hemel Hamster? You must die now.

The PR server is full pretty much 24/7. The PoE2 server seems to have the odd bout of emptiness but they are due for an update soon which I hear has some nice features being added.
The only thing I could add to that is look for any squad called LEARN TG. Failing that, find a squad that has some TG tags in it. Let your SL now that you're new and you should find you get all the help you need. One good thing about the long battles on the PR server is that you can make a lot of mistakes and the team still has a chance to win.
