Man, I can't wait. Would love to see Gulf of Oman in action again!

Bit of trivia: my fiancée and I actually broke up for awhile last winter when I got the BF2 demo, played it until 7am, then slept all day when we were supposed to go out. I immediately bought the game afterwards but haven't played Oman out of guilt since!

I was a little peeved at the BF2142 server one afternoon, so I popped in the BF2 disc and played good old vanilla. It was so hard to readjust. I'd love to play vanilla again, the TG way.

As much as I love ground pounding, I still need my time in the air so will there be atleast some maps with aircraft or will they all be edited out?

Not sure if dgm (icky's dynamic game mod that the admins used to change stuff on the fly) will be in full effect, but the basic mods (e.g. chopper removal in sharqi) should still be in effect.

We're gonna try to keep it as 'old skool' as possible, meaning that we'll get our server settings as close as possible to the height of the TG BF2 heyday.

Is this still happening? I haven't played TG in at least a year and I'd love to get some time in....TG is the reason I'm still playing this game.

I don't mean to be the one stick-in-the-mud here, folks, but I hope that PoE isn't going to become the regular test-bed for events like this. Around last September, I had finally had enough of the screwed up mess that is vBF2 and played my last game, intending to uninstall it and see what sort of trade value Electronics Boutique would give me for the title. Finding PoE and finding TG through PoE were the only things that kept me from doing just that. I'd just like to air that out and express my dismay at returning to vBF2 in the state that it is currently in at the expense of PoE.

Vanilla Battlefield 2 on TG is completely different from anything you have played. Just joining late last year you probably never got to experience this. This is a time for all of us that were here to get some of that old school fun we used to have and for the new guys to experience it as well. Drop by and you will not be sorry. PoE will be there later if you are.

I only stayed online for a few games, but durring Gulf of Oman I noticed tons of people getting kicked. One in particular came into the MEC chopper spawn no less than 3 times before getting kicked despite warnings. This is just for a weekend and I think everyone wants to atleast get some of that nostalgic feeling just for a few days, but I really think that the vanilla population has regressed so far that any future event should be done with a password or not at all.

I didn't think there were many people being kicked. I had great games all night and I didn't have any problems with anyone. There is in no way a password needed IMO. We even had a guy wanting to know more about being a SM in our squad. ( I got in late on that map but that is what I overheard ) I thought it was a tremendous success. Those were much better games than I could have gotten on PR or PoE hands down. Thanks to everyone that set this up. I am looking forward to it all weekend.

Sorry man, but this happens every day on every server. Last night was completely routine from an admin perspective, so you are creating something where nothing exists.

If anything...

I found vBF2 to be annoying last night. :-/ Fun, and yeah, lets do it every once in a while, but really, vBF2 has nothing on PoE or PR

It was just durring gulf of oman that I noticed the people getting kicked, although I probably over reacted with that last statement.
