Thumbs down I am sad to tell you this.

I am going to be out of action for the next few weeks. I have some computer problems that might lead to re-installation of the OS and re-installation of everything else saved on the computer. I do not know what the problem is, so time will tell if it is just the OS.

I will notify the lot of you when I will be back.

Re: I am sad to tell you this.

I had this happen right before a practice session last year. It was a nightmare and I ended up needing a whole new mobo, processor, ram as my system was rather old.

Good luck getting your system back online...

SSA out.

Re: I am sad to tell you this.

It is not a shot system, just I have to work out some kinks in the partition that the OS and everything that I normally use are located on, but my problem is that the disks that came with my computer might delete the rest of my hard drive if I try to reformat my hard drive making all of my info else where deleted.

I know a guy who has the XPS version of my computer and I will ask how he got his kinks worked out his when problems show up on his computer.

Re: I am sad to tell you this.

ok, I've been getting help by a good friend Parkbench. Thank you Parkbench. I will though take it to the person I know who has the xps version of my dell laptop and see how he repaired the system without doing damage.

Re: I am sad to tell you this.

forget it. route that will be taken: reinstall windows on specific partition.

Well, ever since I cleaned house on my computer, certain programs would shut down when they were midstream in booting up (i.e. battlefield 2142). When I would go to repair certain programs or reinstall BF, it gave me this error that says that Norton anti-virus '06 does not support the repair or uninstall feature...

So, now that I got rid of Norton with a downloaded program that removes all of Norton and its software, I should be able to run BF and other games- WRONG! Why can't I- I do not know. I find this odd.

I have found that the easiest thing to do for maintenance is just reinstall xp on the largest partition.

Re: I am sad to tell you this.

If you are worried about data loss, you could reinstall XP over an existing install without formatting the drive. It's not the preferred method and leaves the hard drive in disarray, but it will get you access to your data so you can move it and then perform a clean install.

Re: I am sad to tell you this.

computers... computers..

i am always having trouble with my computer... and it sometimes just makes you wanna smash it up eh?

Off topic: I remember some time a few years back, our fax machine wasnt working and one day when i got off school i check the computer area and there was our fax machine flying past my face and smashing into the wall bursting into tiny pieces. I ask my dad, what was that for? He says"It had it coming"

That is what my computer has coming soon too.. Although i dont think it would solve your problem or mine.

Sometimes I seriously consider sending my 'buy a PC that can play crysis' fund into the XBox 360 shop...

Good luck with getting your comp back working though seige, I had to wipe my hard disk drive TWICE after secuROM (Copy protection for World in Conflict) killed my computer.
It can be really frustrating.
