I've only been playing for about a week. So my skills are quite newbish but I do hope to hone them and become better.

I usually play as Support in fact 90% of the time that's what I play. But I do have a tendancy to hop around to different kits depending on what the situation is, for instance, the other night we were being hammered by armor and air units so I hoped in the AT kit and attempted to dispatch a few tanks. I got a couple good hits but I wasn't in a good enough hiding spot so I got killed.

Anyway, my work schedule sometimes conflicts with the normal times other squads play as well as my shcedule on friday nights. Sat-Thurs I don't have any issues hoping on for 4+ hours at a clip but fridays I'm usually busy if I work till 7pm. If I work till 5pm on friday I can jump on for a few hours.

I'm not good at SL nor commanding. But I'd like to work on that. I've flown a jet once and didn't too bad with it. I ended up crashing into a building with it. I can't even get a helo off the ground. Again, these are two things I'd like to work on.

But I do like the enviorment and organization of squads. So, I'd like to become a squad member if at all possible. Please.

Sounds great just don't give me any ammo LOL

Re: Interested in Joining the Irregulars?

Were you standing there when I threw the 'nade?

I did attempt to yell into the mic screaming, "MOVE!!!" but no one paid any attention. It was purely incidental and unintentional.

I've since learned to pay attention what is in my hands before throwing them away.

Lets try to keep this thread just for recruitment guys, it gets in a real mess otherwise.

Re: Interested in Joining the Irregulars?

I am new to TG and BF2 - played on the public servers about two weeks now and last night (Monday) on TG for the first time.
I find that I tend to play either as support (gotta love that BFG) or sniper (love those sneaky shots). I also tend to jump into anything on wheels that has a gun but am still trying to find the right balance between charging in guns blazing and biding my time.
Anyway I don't play every night and sometimes I'm away on a business trip but would like to find a "home" where coordinated teamwork is the name of the game.
I'm on EST and, JimmyTwoHand, I'm originally from England. Does your handle have some roots in Snatch (Frankie Four Fingers) :-]

Re: Interested in Joining the Irregulars?

Please read all of the community FAQs and SOPs, the link is in my sig. They may seem a little daunting but it is vital you have a good grasp of them to maximise your (and our ) playing experience. Im sure you have probably been told this on numerous occasions since joining but a little repitition doesnt hurt.

Also, remember that you do not have to join the irregulars to experience great tactical squad based gaming, you can have that at TG anyway. If you do want to take this further then we are the people to do it with. We are in the process of setting up scrims and training to take our gameplay on to a new level although these details have to be confirmed.

If you are still interested in the irregulars and think this is for you and have absorbed all the SOPs, reply and we will get you hooked up.

Above all at TG we follow orders. Stick with your squad and you should find that the guns blazing/softly softly dilemma is solved. If i ever feel like going mad i ask the SL if he needs a golden lemming to thrash ahead in a buggy and spring any C4 traps or find if there is an AT ambush ahead. As long as it is contributing to the team and it is sanctioned its all good.

Re: My nickname, it is a mixture of childhood filth and amusing incidents that has found pertinence and new meaning in my career as well. I have also heard "JohnnyTwoTimes" from Goodfellas fielded as another suggestion of source, but never have i seen another "TwoHand".

Re: Interested in Joining the Irregulars?

Thanks
I have read all of the SOPs etc - very good bedtime reading and I understand the basics but need to be part of a good squad to learn more from an understanding and experienced SL. I have no problem acting as cannon fodder (I am getting used to dying in BF2 - but mainly due to inexperience and lack of a cohesive plan).
So if you want a willing (albeit inexperienced) sqaddie then count me in for a tryout (or whatever you are contemplating).

PS I was born in Birmingham's Loveday Street hospital and spent the first five years of my childhood in Brades Village Oldbury (Odebury to the locals) my cousin still lives in Tat Bank. Small world huh.

Re: Interested in Joining the Irregulars?

Ok cool. Seeing as how you have already made the leap to SM after a single TG game i figured you would be up to speed but i was just making sure. The irregs do not hold tryouts. I will be playing tonight so i would advise that you have Teamspeak downloaded and can connect to the TS channel. If you see me on, give us a yell and i will try to run through some things with you. Likewise im sure if any of the other guys see you they will help you get into a good squad. Failing that try to hop into a squad with a TG guy leading it. That will more often than not mean they are very good squad leaders, especially if they are "numbered". Dont be shy about telling them that you are new and ask questions if you are unsure. Its the best way to learn. We were all like that at one point.

Re: Interested in Joining the Irregulars?

I should be on tonight about 8:00 EST (BF server # 1 right). IR Team Speak server is 67.19.106.94: 8767 right? I have to set up TS for the first time so I hope I get it right. Do you "unload" VOIP and use TS exclusively? BTW is there a password for the IR TS server? I did a search and came up blank.

Re: Interested in Joining the Irregulars?

home, member features for TS password. You dont need to unload VOIP you still use that in game. You can use TS before you get in game and between rounds, ill be on at 8EST so if you get TS working ill see you there. ANy other probs, PM me. The wiki has full details on setting up TS get to it via the link in my sig and then navigate from the homepage to it. Should sort you out.

Re: Interested in Joining the Irregulars?

Okay I see, it's the same setup as the regular TG team speak. I was thinking the IRs had a separate channel DUH. Sorry for hijacking the thread.

Re: Interested in Joining the Irregulars?

Hi everyone,

I'm yet another dMw member from the UK, who has been frequenting the TG BF2 server more and more often.

I enjoy playing with the dMw guys, who share a similar approach to tactics and fairplay as TG does, but I would like to become involved in more large scale games (which seems the norm on the TG server) and competitive matches.

So Ranger recommended I take a look at the TG Irregulars.

I've had a number of excellent games on the TG server and particularly like the emphasis on fair play, tactics and teamwork - and the friendly attitude.

I was a member of SWAF - Seawolves and enjoyed playing Operation Flashpoint with those guys, before moving onto Joint Ops and now BF2.

I play most classes in BF2 as I think tactically you need to be able to respond to different situations as your SL/CO requests it.

Classes I like to play:
- Medic, Spec Ops, Anti-tank, Assault (in order) - though I will play support/sniper/engineer if the SL/CO requests it

Vehicles: I'm happy driving anything land based, and seem to do a decent job on the vehicles MG's. I can fly Helo's safely but I'm nowhere near the standard of the combat pilots on the TG server.

I'm a team player and enjoy helping my squad achieve its objectives.

I enjoy comaraderie, tactical discussion, training, learning new tactics etc and friendly banter - and feel I can contribute to the Irregulars if I'm allowed to join?

All the best.

Re: Interested in Joining the Irregulars?

Here come the -=[dMw]=- guys.

BigPaddy

Played Joint ops and BF2, not checked, but several hundred hours. Had a kinda of mini clan with Ranger and Dewey and others before hopping onto dMw. Again attracted by the elements of teamwork and fairplay. I dont want to repeat Dewey, but you guys know why TG is attractive.

TG has bigger turnouts and is available to us in the UK after most people go to bed. I've played on the TG server a few times and have always enjoyed the style of play. Ranked servers just dont do it for me - fragfest.

Roles in order: medic, rifleman, engineer, supply - what do you want SL?
Vehicles: Love an APC, anything else is good, hate walking a long way
Flying: if you only need a taxi I can do it, anything fancy ask someone else
Squad leader: happy to do so, fits medic role very well in my opinion
Commander: really not had a lot of experience and I guess I do prefer to be more involved with a squad.
Timezone: GMT

Teamwork, please!
