Perhaps some sort of trial period would help this. (I know, it sounds lame, but it might help) After you join the Irregulars, if you don't post and/or show up at an event with a certain amount of time (a fairly large one, like 2-3 weeks) then we just take you off the roster. That would keep the roster clean of all the people who sign up and then vanish but would allow plenty of room for people who are just busy (like myself). If someone found the time to post their interest in joining the irregs then they should certainly be able to post at least once in a while on the forums.
also makes a lot of sense... i mean, really our roster will always have turnover.... for all the reasons in the mision statement. There will always be a core group of Irregs, but then there will also always be new players coming in, while others either "disappear" or decide to move on to one of the many in-house teams...

so yeah - I think this whole big doodah is about how to do that.... what's the protocol we'll use to keep the roster fresh?

good posts guys, thanks for thinking and writing..

So, is it officially cancelled or what? Just wondering. If not what time would it be?

Re: Practice Update for 1/24/06

I think we'll see a number of irregs come and go before it settles out. The servers were pretty busy last couple months as some of the younger guys had breaks from school. We'll see some, like Delta_Swift again, but I bet many will be MIA. This will be more and more fun as those of us that become habitual irregulars get used to playing together. New faces will always be welcome, and a certain (probably small) percentage will stick.

I know I'm not the only one that really appreciates how much you've done to make this work. I'm here because I want to play with the team, and wish I could do more to help organize, but I'm already ignoring 5 other things I should be doing to type this. For me, TG or BF2 time is largely about how little sleep I can function on. But it's fun, and that's the point.

Go, Irregular, Go!

Dammit. I'm so sorry. I forgot. I know I'm an hour late and I know I can't be there any later than 11pm but I'm on my way.

Even the little blurb about whether you will be ther or not shows interst in the group, which will make all the argumentative threads dissappear.

Now-- the inital membership process for the Irr was pretty open--- anyone who said 'me too' got in. So long as you hav eno barriers to membership you will get a lot of folks who join and then slip off the radar. That's actually one reason organizations put barriers to membership in place: so that people feel like they are invested in the process--- thus are less likely to make the effort to join, only to disappear.

I think as long as the Irr maintains its current inclusive membership policy (which I personally prefer) we will see a large percentage of our membership resting in an inactive state. I don't see any other way that will work--- if people don't have to make an effort to join then we will get a higher percentage of players who join on an impulse and really don't follow through. The only way to change that is to make a membership process that forces people to put forth effort to get in.
In this instance, at least you are letting us know that you may be gone for a couple of months, so now we have heads up as to why you arent "active" in the forums or server or scrim or what not. I think the whole point we are trying to get at is that at least TRY to let us know whats going on and not just drop off the face of the forum and leave everyone hanging asking "What happened to kornkobcom?"------Just using your SN as an example, dont take offense, and if so, then I apologize.

I think this is a good idea, but according to everyone that is involved, no one has the time to keep track of what is going on...after all we are "Irregulars". So there would be no point in keeping track of who does what and when. From all t he negativity and the nitpicking of where the Irregulars are headed, I keep wondering why we even keep the Irregulars going? We are constantly "callled" on the "discrepancies" in our statement and goals, but we havent seen anyone step up to the plate and TRY to take control. Why should those of us that sacrifice our time and pateince even try to keep this project going? Why? Becasue we have a belief that this could work, but a "pooled" (i think this word has been used many times) effort is needed. It would be so easy for ALL of us that have been involved in this from day one to walk away and become a part of something else, but we choose not to due to the fact that we have alot of faith that this situation will prevail. If the "Irregulars" fail and go to the wayside, then dont complain, because you still have the TG community, which ALWAYS comes first, no matter what, then comes squad. So if the squad falls, then there is the community, so dont be bitter or harsh, just enjoy your membership. An avatar or a tag does not make you a better player, YOU make YOU a better player, so dont be dissapointed if ther is no avatar or tag. Sorry to ramble on, it is late nad I have been pondering the whole situation for most of the day.
