Re: 2/4/2006 Irregular practice.....
having done this before, I HIGHLY recommend having an agenda or list of drills... you should also at least consider have someone not participate in the drills (a "Drill Sgt." if you will) that ensures things stay on track...
heck - you might even consider inviting some of the in-house squads' drill sgt's (those that have them) as "guest speakers" ( |

BTW I agree with the idea to stay with standard maps for those of us with less experience and also with having a drill sargeant. |

Re: 2/4/2006 Irregular practice.....
Shafik is a "guest speaker" though he did convey to me that he'd like to participate in the drills but in the past he'd be the drill sergeant.
Whiskey, you stepping up to the plate for drill sergeant? I'm only good at organizing these things and not running drills. I do have a list of things I'd like ot cover but as to how to go about running the drills for them I'm lost. So, if anyone from the 12th has free time and would like to step up to be our drill sergeant we'd greatly appreciate it. Also, anyone from any of the other inhouses who'd also like to help out feel free. As for "trash" talk don't be surprised if we Irregulars get a little trigger happy mid drill as sometimes, it's the only time we're able to kill some of the "Best of the Best" of TG. ![]() But seriously, if anyone would like to step up (from any of the other in-house squads) and be our drill sergeant I'm sure we will need it. And we'd greatly appreciate it. |

Re: 2/4/2006 Irregular practice.....
I like the idea of having a "guest" drill instructor for our first post reorganization practice. Perhaps one of our former brothers from the 12th? I also think that it will be important for the Training officer and Sgt to work closely with this person so as to know how to set up an agenda and such for future sessions.
I believe it will be important for us to focus on the basics. Some suggestions for items on the agenda: Estimating range to target. Using Grenade Laucher sights at different ranges. Weapon familiarization: M-16 or equivilent M203 or equivilent SAW or equivilent AT Hand Grenade (estimating distance and proper arc) I'd also like to see folks practice putting a granade (hand or otherwise) through a bunker door or window. Just a few ideas of some things to work on. Things I personally would like to impove for myself anyway.

Re: 2/4/2006 Irregular practice.....
Great suggestions. And I think we can work on them. Before days end or before practice start I am going to compile everything that we can work on and create a check list I can have by my keyboard, as we work through each thing and everyone feels comfortable with them I'll check them off. And then before we do our mini-game at the end we will review what we worked on previously.

Legz
You may also want to cover the basics of a two man squad based team. For instance having a Support backing up an AT so he can replenish ammo and provide cover. Also the tactics for good AT (e.g. don't fire from the same spot etc.) |

Re: 2/4/2006 Irregular practice.....
I'd love to help but things have been insane at work recently, and I won't be able to make it (as I'll be working through my 3rd straight weekend
)also - these are all great ideas about the weapons training... the only thing I might suggest is that you think about which activities can be "drilled" and which are just a matter of, well, practice - i.e. there are somethings you can only practice in a controlled environment.... but then many others are individual skills where there's just no substitute for experience - I'd suggest practicing such individual skills everytime you play on server-1! ....and that when you manage to get a group of people in one place at one time, you take advantage of that opportunity to practice "team-based" activities... |

So yes, we can work on that too. I'll have an itinerary tomorrow for the practice. |

Thanks Cat, I don't know the time differences.
I could tell you though that if its 2pm EST in New Jersey than it is 12pm Mountain time in Colorado because I used to live there. |
