Irregs and the 12th
Guys! Sorry - this was meant to be posted here before the announcement in the general forum!
I'm sure most of you saw the announcement of the 12th... Basically, I've come to realise through my participation with the irregs that I have more time than my hectic schedule would suggest and furthermore, after consulting with some of the admin team, that some of the things I'm looking for simply cannot be provided by the Irregulars. There are somethings that are only afforded inhouse teams. After casually discussing this with others I realized that this feeling wasn't mutually exclusive, and that others were pondering moving on to an in-house team... thus the birth of the 12th. We have agonised long and hard about the future of the irregs and are very optimistic for their future. A new crop of guys have stepped forward to handle certain avenues of organisation and new members are joining day by day to “re-swell” the ranks. As we all know the irregulars surpassed their original boundaries with huge commitment from many people and great support from the admins. It is now time for new people to take the irregulars forward, be that in the same groove that was originally carved or in new and exciting directions yet foreseen. Now's your chance - make this group what you want it to be! We are hugely proud of what has become of the irregulars. It has been the method by which we grew to know and ridicule each other and sucked us deeper into the wonderful world of TG. It has spawned many new SMs and provides a place for those who want more than just server 1 and yet do not have the time or means to fulfill that. Going forward, we'd like to fight together as much as possible! We're still gonna be around, still gonna be in this forum, and infact would like to help merge the minicamps and irregs practices... we'd still like to be affiliated with the Irregs... In fact, we're hopeful that this cycle continues! That as people fight together in the Irregs, they'll realize just how much TG means to them... and that they want more of it.... In the future nothing would make me prouder than to see the Irregs spin-off another in-house squad! In short - I only see this as the end of the beginning for the irregs!! And of course, feel free to PM me, any admins, or any of the initial 12th if you've got any comments/questions/concerns... ![]() Whiskey |

Re: Irregs and the 12th
Regardless, those of us who have been participating a lot lately and take offence being labeld "bunny rabbits" should have been kept in the loop of things abreast.
I'm sorry, but this comes as a shock to me and I'm sure others within the remnant ranks of the Irregulars feel the same. Especially since I also noticed the decline in our participation and have tried along with a few others have tried on several occasions to get the numbers up. |

Re: Irregs and the 12th
I don't think any of us referred to you as bunny rabbits. Anyhow, that was quite funny I thought.
Please don't take offence. We have talked long and hard about minimizing the effect this would have on the Irregulars. We really have tried hard to ease the transition. We are after all, still here, and still part of TG.

I'm sorry, but I do not for one "hop" around maps and I know for a fact that several other remnant members do not either. Granted, a few of them do but not a lot. As for the deer-in-the headlight thing, I don't know, I've never actually witnessed it first hand. I may have been caught a few times with my pants down while giving orders from teh SL screen or the CO screen or reloading a weapon but its never been intentional. |

Re: Irregs and the 12th
the whole bunny comment i beleive was referring to your IRR squad growing quickly, breeding like rabbits.

Re: Irregs and the 12th
Ok, sorry. But I am a bit upset that more than half of the active Irregs decided to just up and leave as are a few of the other Irregs.
The rest of the Irreg ranks are full of names but no bodies. I've been working hard along with Shafik, Shirk, Thierry and a few others to figure out who is active and who isn't and then the majority of the guys who have a lot more experience than me just go away. I love this place and like working with everyone on here. I just feel kind of.....I guess out of the loop because I was trying to get things much more organized and had a lot fo great ideas. I mean I still do and I'm hoping the remaining officers in teh Irregs are willing to keep it alive and make some changes to get the numbers up and the inactive names on our roster more active. I also have no problems with the "ribbing" I just misunderstood what the whole "bunny rabbit" thing was in reference to. |

Re: Irregs and the 12th
why not as a supporting member create another inhouse squad, get the rest of those IRRs together that are SMs and make your own.

Re: Irregs and the 12th
That's the plan. I'd like to keep some of the values from the Irregs but change a lot of things and get us more organized, weed out inactive members and get our numbers up. This is something I've been pondering for about a month but never talked to anyone about. This announcement however affords me an opportunity and an opening.
But I want to confer with the other officers in the Remnant Irregulars to see if they would be interested in acomplishing this with me so I wasn't doing it alone. |

I think that as long as there are people playing BF2, there will always be "new guys" that search out the Irregulars. There will always be guys that decide they are looking for more and will splinter off. Look at it as a natural progression rather than a sudden change to get upset about.

Re: Irregs and the 12th
This is a natural progression, IMO. Players who joined the IRR realized that they like being organized, and it gave them a taste for more. It's been suggested more than once that the more dedicated members form their own in-house squad. This should help balance the remaining IRR ranks with regard to their availability/commitment level to organized squad play.

Re: Irregs and the 12th
Here's my stance:
The idea behind the Irregulars was to create an alternative for busy individuals that love TG, but can't commit to a squad. Essentially, they could come in and play whenever their schedules allow with a tight knit group of friends rather than just random people they find on Server 1. Eventually, if the players were cultivated enough and eventually could commit more, they would join an in-house squad. Originally, a set number of players were going to be allowed in. The Irregulars would be the first step up in the TG hierarchy. However, when the open door policy was initiated we lost sight of that. Rather than being the first step up, we became the new "TG tag." Find TG. Join the Irregulars. Oh well, no problem. Life goes on. Eventually, it became apparent that many of the Irregulars were really enjoying each other's company and becoming more "regular" with their availability and commitment. It was decided that an actual in-house squad would be appropriate. Fine. That's all well and good and makes sense. After all, the Irregulars is just a loose affiliation of players. It's not like they were abandoning their team. Now I hear speak of turning the Irregulars into an in-house squad. Huh? I think we've missed the point here. If you were in the Irregulars and feel like you can now commit to regular practices and an active participation on the servers, why don't you apply to join the 12th or any other in-house squad. The Irregulars was never intended to be an in-house squad. It's supposed to be a smaller community for "irregular" players that enjoy playing with one another and developing team tactics, without requiring a "regular" commitment. Let's keep it at that. Rather than make it an in-house squad, why don't you set a limit to the amount of "Irregulars," (a fairly large number, but much lower than what we have now) and then work on developing that community. Eventually as players become more active, they can move up to an in-house squad (the 12th perhaps) and a new spot will be available for a new Irregular. I'm not sure how you'd go about "purging" the roster, but you could try creating a thread for members to check in with a deadline (say a week and half), and if they don't check in, then take the next step via PM. Anyway, let's not panic because the old "leadership" of the Irregulars has formed an in-house squad. The Irregulars is sort of a mini-community with no "real" leaders. You get out of it what you put in. That's my buck-fifty.

The reasons you weren't informed is due to the logistics of forming the squad. What do you think would have been like if we announced we were going to start an inhouse squad and you weren't invited to join or other supporting members weren't asked to join that would have caused many more problems than the way we did it. Also understand we could have launched this off much earlier but we were all concerned about the reaction from the Irregulars. If you feel betrayed that was not the intent at all but we all were yerning for more than what the Irregulars were giving us. If there is anything I can do for the Irregulars then please ask I will be moe than willing to help anyway I can.
