Any Irreg's getting RO?

Hey all,

I know this is mainly a BF2 forum for the squad...but I was wondering how many, if any, people plan on buying Red Orchestra? I most likely will next week, not sure yet. Awww...who am I trying to kid..of course I'm buying it!!! LOL

hmm, Is it running on the unreal engine 2 or source? since it says powerered by unreal tech, but its running on steam, I'm still confused about that, I know they won the make something unreal contest, and got the lisence for the unreal engine2 useage, don't know much else though.

It is s seperate gam now, the original RO required UT2004, but this is a stand-alone game

I've bought and preloaded it. Waiting for release date (or time?.. it's already 14 Mar, but games is still unreleased)

Steam is not a game engine --- it is a content delivery system. Anysoftware (theoretically) could be distributed via Steam if the owner of said software contacts Valve and works out a deal. Not eveyrthing distributed via steam uses Valve engines as it's base.

Ya i know what steam is, hmm not sure if I want to get it, was hoping it was going to run on the source engine, unreal engine 2 is a bit outdated. I'm more of a graphic whore myself.

It's Unreal Engine 2.5, which is only outdated if you don't know anything about game engines. Unreal 2.5 can push as many polys as source and run just as many specular maps and normal maps, and it'll give you all the shadows and lighting and physics that you want.

Mainly don't want to ruin bf2 experience I'm not really able to juggle between games.

Fair enough. It can be tough to learn 2 seperate control schemes, especially when they both do very similar things (iron sights, prone, crouch, VOIP) at the same time.
