Irregs Night AAR for Sunday 25-Mar-07
Ok guys,
Today was our first day of locked squads and other madness. Let's hear how everyone's rounds went...I had some great times myself. More to follow on that... Cheers,

Re: Irregs Night AAR for Sunday 25-Mar-07
Alright...it looks like I may have spent way too much time gaming today!
I started off on Mao Valley in TGE1st dawolf's USMC squad. He's a great SL, and despite his excellent leadership it looked like it was going to be a tough day...took me a lot of deaths to "warm up" After that round I took on Squad Leader duties for the next 5 rounds, and got to get some great games in with ArgentDude, AvengingLlama, Bc2ID, Cappy, FortuneCookie, Wimpinator, XCannon69. Things just got better and better, culminating with a nicely executed flanking maneuver at the end of Helmand. A summary follows ![]() EJOD Desert - "IRREGS", MEC ========= TG-Irr Cappy [TG]IronClaw1 BrotherCaptain_Gaius |TG-7th|Beatnik [TG-Irr]eGoatBoy I started trying to get a squad going with a focus on infantry support for our armour with mixed success. I still need to work on this... ![]() Ultimately we ended up in some good fights at East City with a couple choice spots for Beatnik's arty (he went CO after awhile). Jabal Al-Burj - "IRR", USMC ============= TG-Irr FortuneCookie TG-Irr Cappy TG-Irr Bc2ID F-15sof pC-FLOODY [TG-Irr]eGoatBoy This map is intersting because of the frequent reliance on helo insertions...which pC-FLOODY was providing for us on a regular basis (mostly 'cause I kept getting the whole squad killed ). We had some variations of ground action with close air support from the HH-60, and did some good work hunting OpFor rally points.Inishail Forrest - "IRR", China ================ |TG-Irr|Wimpinator |TG-Irr|ArgentDude TG-Irr FortuneCookie Jeepo_SAS soonerfan1966 [TG-Irr]eGoatBoy A slow start on this one, but then we seemed to be in near constant action at Outpost, primarily defending. Great teamwork by the squad on this map I thought...typically we operated in 2 fireteams, with Wimp leading one of the teams. We pulled Best Chinese squad on this map with some pretty good performances by the team. I had loads of fun on this one. Mucho thanks to our medics for some clutch revives! Al Basrah - "IRREGS", USMC ========= |TG-Irr|Wimpinator TG-Irr FortuneCookie TG-Irr XCannon69 (ended up as CO) |TG-7th|Beatnik soonerfan1966 Jeepo_SAS (replaced XCannon69) [TG-Irr]eGoatBoy I fealt like I couldn't get anything going on this one, with lot's of struggles getting into Facility. I tried the "infantry support for armour" schtick again, with mixed success. It's not time to give up on that tactic yet!The Admins decided to end this map part way through, as it looked like it was going to be the only map we played all night judging by the tickets I was grateful for the opportunity to get out the rut, and the deadly alleyways!Helmand - "PIR8TS", Insurgents ======= |TG-Irr|Wimpinator TG-Irr FortuneCookie TG-Irr XCannon69 TG-Irr Bc2ID TG-Irr AvengingLlama [TG-Irr]eGoatBoy This was the first time I'd seen this map. We spawned in on the far east point south of X-Ray and then joined the chaos at Whiskey. Apparently the madness was more than my machine could handle as I ended up with a CTD. In the meantime Boxcar was trying to get an invite into the squad to fill the space I left behind...not sure what happened there, but the invite seemed to keep timing out? Eventually the Brits captured Whiskey and Victor, and I tried to coordinate an attack with the 1stMIP and our squad on Yankee...never seemed to work out though. I was inspired by the 1stMIP though when I watched their squad approach yankee in a column foramtion, then split into 2 fireteams with one circling west to flank. On the map it looked liek ballet...except then all their blue dots went away (damn those Brits!).The round came to an end with a finely executed flanking ambush at Yankee by our squad. It was tense as we snuck into position behind an OpFor squad, with the occasional question of "Are we weapons free?", and my reply being "Negative, hold your fire." Just as we got into position I heard a weapon discharge, and I think AvengingLlama was down (memory could be wrong here), so I called out "Weapons free!". Shortly after that our targets were wiped out. It was kinda cool. It was a tense and close round with an 11 - 0 victory for the Insurgents. Lot's of fun. Anyway, apologies for the HUGE post guys, but I was pretty stoked after our first Official Irregs Night c/w with that elitist squad locking stuff ![]() I noticed that in TeamSpeak we had Bc2ID, Axis, Wimpinator, and Boxcar. I'm not sure if anyone else was there at different times, but if you can run TS than try to loiter in the Irregs channel. It makes it WAY easier for coordinating squad invites etc. Also, you get to laugh at my lame K/D between rounds... Cheers,

Re: Irregs Night AAR for Sunday 25-Mar-07
For some bizarre reason I decided to tie up my computer tonight ripping DVDs (even though the good woman offered her laptop for the service). So instead I watched "What Women Want" and gave her what she wanted (beers and a backrub!)
Hopefully I'll pull my head outta her ass for the next session.

It was my pleasure to be in your squad, eGoatBoy, i only played on one map though but there was some serious teamwork going on there and that made the game a lot more entertaining and realistic

Goat,
Nice playing with the full squad, too bad the armor support squad did not happen. You are correct the flanking atack was the highlight of the evening!! See you on the battlefield. B
