*The Platoon System IMPORTANT*

As I have mentioned in a previous thread about some of the new dynamics we are going to introduce into the Irregulars, one of the more central topics was the use of subdivisions based on areas of interest. In this carnation they will be alluded to as platoons.

First I want to make perfectly clear this system is not designed to divide the Irregulars into competing factions nor is this system meant to segment people into permanent and mandatory roles or in any other way inhibit one's gaming experience.

There are numerous advantages the platoon system, and I think it will soon be apparent the rationale behind it. One of the greatest advantages is increased cohesion, now because the platoons focus on general areas of expertise, like minded players will have a structure by which they can interact and meet new players with similar interests. Furthermore platoons will be able to practice and perfect their skills and tactics in the area which they are most apt and the roles they find most enjoyable. These practices will take the form of monthly training exercises hosted by each platoon, although these practices are open to everyone, the sponsoring platoon's attendance will be emphasized. This new structure system also allows for better representation of different playing styles within the hierarchy of the Irregulars as each platoon is assigned a sergeant to represent their unique needs.

As far as the actual mechanics of the system, the ranks of the Irregulars, which consists of almost fifty players will be divided into five distinct platoons. Each platoon will focus on a specific gaming title, either BF2142 and BF2 and an area of expertise within that game. Although logically it would be assumed that each platoon consist of ten members, being the Irregulars there are no restrictions on size of either the minimum or maximum variety. And of course joining a platoon is no obligation to play a specific game or role exclusively but rather should be a reflection of an area which you enjoy playing as and would like to better your skills.

The following is a list of each of the five platoons, their titles, descriptions, game title focus and their sergeants.

Name: Old Ironsides
Game: BF2
Sergeant: Morganan
Description: Through the use of combined infantry and armor tactics in direct support of each other this platoon attempts to advance the front line.

Name:Special Operators
Game: BF2
Sergeant: |30+|SirShotalot
Description: This platoon uses unconventional warfare and guerrilla tactics for missions of sabotage and long range reconnaissance.

Name: Ground Pounders
Game: BF2142
Sergeant: ikill4aliving
Description: With the assistance of a variety of mobile futuristic weapon systems this platoon engages in basic squad level infantry tactics.

Name: Pirate Wing
Game: BF2
Sergeant: xcannon69
Description: This platoon uses aircraft to support troops by providing transportation, tasking in close air support, and engaging in aerial combat.

Name: The Black Patches
Game: BF2142
Sergeant: HatefullSix
Description: A unit with advanced training and tactics in the use of vehicles in anti-armor and anti-infantry roles as well as friendly infantry support roles, in a futuristic warfare setting.

Now, you may be asking yourselves which platoon is right for you? Of course only you know the answer, and there are a multitude of factors involved in this decision, this may be particularly difficult for the skilled players who are experts in many roles over multiple game titles. I would encourage you to select the one which is initially most appealing to you. And remember should your interests shift or should you find yourselves unsatisfied in your current platoon one can change their platoon assignment at any time.

I'm definitely going to end up with the Ground Pounders, as that is my primary focus. Hopefully I will get some time to play 2142 this week so that my skills in that role don't completely degrade. God things have been busy lately; but anyway, back on-topic.
