Irregulars Badges in New Cutlass

As a part of the changes being made in Project New Cutlass, the coveted Irregulars Badge will be much more easy to earn.
All members will now be given an Irregulars Badge with the spade, skull and swords logo on a nice gray background like the original. There will, however, still be opportunities to earn something a bit more special, to show that you didn't just join up for a cool badge, but are an active and contributing member who is working toward a greater goal than one's personal Kill : Death ratio. Knifing Santa, while a worthwhile goal, won't get you a cool badge--at least from the Irregulars (maybe the 33rd has one).

A Red badge will be given to those who have currently earned the Badge we have now. THAT INCLUDES SOME OF YOU WHO DIDN"T GET ONE YET! Because of the workload to get things ready for New Cutlass, I have put Badge awards on hold until the new ones are ready to go. At that point, we'll ask everyone who has one to replace it with the newer, non-entry-level Badge, and some of you will be getting one who didn't have one before.

As always, if you know of a member you think has shown or done what it takes to be given the Red Badge, let me, your Platoon Leader or another Officer know! There are so many of you and so few of us, we need help to know who is deserving of recognition.

There may be a third design for those who go above and beyond, or have been an Irregular for a certain long time, I don't know. This is a process still in the works, so sit tight and watch the good stuff roll in.

I would think a third design would be a really cool idea for those who have really done awesome stuff for the Irr. I think it would be really cool to have that, and to have an initial batch of them awarded to current and some former Irregs who have done so much for the Irregulars community. It would be a really sweet gesture, and a nice way of awarding those that have really fanatically given of themselves for this organization.

Just my 2 cents.

The badges look lovely. I'm impressed with them.

PS: do you first draw your badge and go by the drawing or do you free hand?

I use the openware (ie free and opensource coded) graphics program, The GIMP, a very powerful tool with lots of cool mini programs and gadgets that make things cool. There are also numerous online tutorials about how to layer effects, or make the cool shiny glass button look. I also make some of my own stuff up.

I don't freehand much, but find uncopywrited graphics online and incorporate them or parts of them with different effects and filters.

I don't do any coding.
