Irr Scrimmage Concept
As has been mentioned recently, it would be nice if we had some sort of big Irr get-together soon, and I was thinking - what better way to have our jollies than to blow each other away durin' the meetin'!
I was thinking an internal 2142 Irr scrimmage could be fun, not unlike the old TG vs TG scrimmages of old, but Irr vs Irr. It could be a great sort of thing to put together and to play in, and I think we should consider it, as we clearly have the numbers for it now! I know I'm no Sergeant even, but I would be quite happy to assist the Sergeants and Officers in putting it together if it was desired. Think of the fun we could have. A server full of 8 v 8 or 16 v 16 Irr's having a blast blowing each other away - the TG way! I think this would especially be advantageous right now, given the influx of new members, many of whom are 2142 players. It could increase interest in our 2142 affairs as well, and would be valuable experience for the newer Irrs like myself in organized scrimmages. If the BF2 folk wanted in on it, there could also be a BF2 internal scrimmage hosted the next week! Hit the modern war one week, an the futuristic war the next! ![]() Included in the scrimmage could be a prelude that would introduce the newer Irrs to various scrimmage codes of conduct and activities, such as "GL HF" before a game, etc. It would be a great opportunity for us to practice our tactics together as well, and to test our mettle internally. Would there be an interest in an event like this, and if there is an interest, on what day would it be ideal for you personally? Thank you. ![]()

Re: Irr Scrimmage Concept
We are always interested in various scrimmages and typical and atypical in-game events alike, but with some of the more sweeping changes we are trying to implement we have a lot on our plate at the moment. Although you can expect this sort of event in the future we would like to start our series of weekly practices first and finish platoon differentiation, which at this rate will take quite sometime.
This is definitely something to look into, but we cannot be overly ambitious in terms events and reforms. |

Re: Irr Scrimmage Concept
I understand, though I believe that an internal scrimmage would be a marvelous opportunity to do just that - practice and train - especially if we conducted it correctly. But that is just my pair of pennies. I know you guys have a lot on your plates right now, and I'm happy and grateful for all the hard work you folks are doing for us! It is with the knowledge that you guys have a lot on your plates right now that I offer to help put this together if there is interest and approval.
I apologize if I step on any toes here; that is not my intent. I had my first scrimmage a week or two ago and in my desire to help the Irr out I figured an internal scrimmage could really get people pepped up and be a good opportunity to practice. Regardless, I'm quite pleased with things as they are and look forward to any practices or get-togethers we have planned - I just thought that perhaps combining the idea with a scrimmage of sorts could be an entertaining concept.

Re: Irr Scrimmage Concept
Well I cant say I hate the idea, but when we get all the new tid-bits properly working, maybe just maybe we could have a Veteran Irregs vs New Irregs. The veteran Irregs team could include Former Irregulars like the 6th guys. (No, I am not trying to say anything bad about you guys)

Re: Irr Scrimmage Concept
My only concern with that is one of fairness - the vets are likely to be a lot more experienced and could just end up kicking the arses of the new folk. Still, it could be a nice learning experience, and who knows, maybe us new folk could give a challenge.

I'll be a bilge-blarsted mate of a belly-up hagfish 'afore I invite any O' them scum-bred turncoats aboard my vessel--unless it's ta polish brass and dance a pretty jig in the air as they swing from a yardarm!
Excellent Idea, Icefoxen. As Intelligence Officer (scrims are my bailiwick) I'll approve this idea with a few conditions--PM me and we'll take a turn on deck to parlay. BTW, congrats on your continued healthy weight victories! I've been tracking and am quite happy for you. I'm not being allowed to give you any more +rep for the time being...I'll catch you later.

Re: Irr Scrimmage Concept
I'll be sure to inform everyone if/when this event goes off. It sounds as if there's a decent chance at it now, so keep your eye on the forums and we'll see what gets cooked up.
