Discussion: Battlefield 2 Tactical Mod / Battlefield 2 Tactical Mod - Feedback & Suggestions - Crosshair on vehicle guns - I know it's technically not realistic, but not being able to see where you're shooting
I know it's technically not realistic, but not being able to see where you're shooting in vehicles is insanely annoying, for me at least. What does everyone else think on the subject?
Because then you would have to add crosshairs to everything else. Adding crosshairs to the 50 cals would be even more overpowering. You have tracers to help you out.
Lorian, when you fire a .50 cal or LMG, do you see the yellow tracers that are shot every few rounds? I use those along with the bullet impacts to adjust my aim and have little problem mowing down infantry or shooting helos out of the sky. It wasn't easy at first, but after some practice and adjustment it becomes second nature.
Yeah, that's on my list of things to research. I think I've stumbled on some tracer stuff in the past and I think you can adjust how often tracers are fired (every 3, 5, whatever bullets). I'm also going to see if we can adjust what tracers look like and make them more visible so they don't get lost in a bright sky or other bright background. Maybe the green slime tracers of Red Orchestra would work better.
Yeah, it's one of those things you think is horrible at first (no crosshairs on .50 cal), then you go play single player for about 30 minutes practicing, then you'll come back and say to yourself "ah, that's not so bad!".
The only times that feel "hairy" for me now are shooting at helos in a bright sky and losing sight of the tracers and firing in very congested areas (a lot of both hostiles and friendlies) but otherwise I've gotten used to the lack of crosshairs.
Changing the tracer frequency/color will help but the best advice for now is to mow down bots for about 20 minutes and you'll get used to it. You'll also find your first shots increasingly more accurate than you'd think...
Yeah I just avoid using the .50 cals now. They've just been a deathtrap to me and seem to instill little fear in whoever I'm firing at. When fired upon, it seems like it's easier to go prone when spotted by a .50 cal, use your iron sights and pick off the gunner than to avoid it or hide from it.
It is not often that I encounter across myself when researching a topic. I found the following in a recent article on the uses of ethnography in virtual environments:

Took a gamble and got a refurbished 30 GB OCZ Vertex 1 off of NewEgg for the low, low price of $30. Had some trouble getting the drive to be recognized by Windows or by my BIOS. Had to use a jumper...
It has been almost 6 months now and I am still waiting for the second peer-review report to come in for my next book (this one is on the future of television).
Things usually unfold faster than...
