    Scout helos

    I think that the AF Scout Helos, but without guns and only carrying a single person, would be cool in certain maps due to the radar on em. It'd give some of the UAV effect, but it would require an actual person flying the aerial vehicle working under the direction of the CO. I imagine a person flying the chopper would also be easier to scare away / shoot down than a UAV.

    Something that would be nice in this situation (but most likely not possible) is if the UAV scan took longer to revolve so the chopper would have to stay in the area longer to get a full scan of the area, not just fly over and reveal all the troops.

    You read my mind on this. I was just thinking today about how someone could make a scout aircraft for Tac Mod using the same radar as the scout helo.

    Single pilot, high altitude, stealthy and slow. It would be unable to make tight turns, so that keeping the radar sweep over a single target would be impossible.

    I think adding a medium/long range UAV to the AA vehicles would be good, it'd make them actually useful and they have weak armor so they'd be relatively easy to destroy.

    Exactly what I was thinking. Also give them a fighting chance against aircraft.

    I saw that thread at the bfeditor forums. I hadn't followed up with it though with the dev team. I'm waiting to see how it can be modded.

    Does anyone know if it's just a static UAV on a vehicle? Can it be modded to show only certain vehicles, have the range changed, etc.?

    The code is ObjectTemplate.ability.radarRadius 10 so you can control the radius. I think you just add that line in the vehicle's files so you basically create a new vehicle by copying the existing AA vehicle. People asked if it was moddable to show only certain vehicles but I don't think anyone's found if it is yet.
