Make helo guns like they were when the game first came out.
To compensate for for the lack of paracutes in the new version, could we increase the power of the transport chopper guns to the power they had in the original release of BF2, I think this would keep
airborne assualts a viable tactic by allowing choppers to cover their passengers as they assualt a position. Just an idea.
The art of war is simple enough. Find out where your enemy is. Get at him as soon as you can. Strike him as hard as you can, and keep moving.

Re: Make helo guns like they were when the game first came out.
They definately should be more powerful but I don't think they should be as powerful as at release.
Maybe make their damage really low but have a splash damage radius as big as they were at release. It wouldn't be a killing machine but it would be awesome for suppressing fire because anything in the radius gets that "dizziness" effect you get when you're near an explosion.
Re: Make helo guns like they were when the game first came out.
Good idea kilrogg. Right now those guns are pretty useless if the blackhawk is moving at all. Itd be nice if the damage and accuracy was nerfed significantly, but the shock upped to even more than what it was when the game was released. Itd allow the troops to get out of the blackhawk easier because the gunner could make all the surrounding baddies dizzy. This would allow blackhawks (and their counterparts) to make landings in hotter zones (but not too hot) as opposed to landing 300 meters away from where they actually want to be.
Another idea to be looked into is to make the BH hold 6 people in the back compartment, 2 gunners, and a pilot. This could allow a dedicated squad of 3 to man the BH, transport full squads around, and suppress (but not kill as much because of the damage) areas to help friendly squads. To make it fair for both sides, you might have to consider scraping the opfor transport helos and just giving them blackhawks.
Re: Make helo guns like they were when the game first came out.
I think one of the things that should be remembered that in real tactics an insertion into a (possibly)hot LZ would be proceeded by gunships to clear the area so maybe the transport helos should try to hook up with the attackchopper as it approaches the LZ. Might be a bit difficult to coordinate but I think if pulled off it would be effective.
But as it is Santa and Kilrogg are right that the Seakhawk guns do need to be a bit more effective to provide some fire support for the helo as it lands without other support. I also like Santa's idea of increasing the number of seats in the helo to allow for a dedicated support helo squad.
Re: Make helo guns like they were when the game first came out.
I dont understand what "crazy numbers" mean. Wouldnt it be as simple as it was to add seats to the back of the jeeps? If you DO make it so more people fit in, i think itd only be worth it if the gun does more suppressing with the tinnitus effect so that youd actually see dedicated 3 man helo squads.

Drunk was referring to a comment I made about needing coordinates for new vehicle seats. These numbers might be something like -844.84792/45.618181/-536.48571. There's also details about how to animate the soldiers and similar things that I don't really know how to do. It might be possible to do these things in the BF2 Editor, but we don't have anyone that has experience with this (I've never used the editor). Asch said he might look into it at some point, but who knows how feasible it is.

We didn't actually do the work for this, we just copied most of the details from Project Reality (and gave them credit in the files). We have something of an unspoken agreement with them to share small things like this (they've copied some small things from Tac Mod).

I think that if we do add another seat to the transport helos then it will just be one so that we can have dedicated pilots inserting and extracting the squads. At least this would be the first step, we'll have to see if even this is possible.
It is not often that I encounter across myself when researching a topic. I found the following in a recent article on the uses of ethnography in virtual environments:
