The only "night" map I have enjoyed in BF2 is the Alaska map in AF. It isn't dark enough to need nv but gives a decent feel to the game.

SF night maps are horrible.

SF night maps are horrible.
Nightflight is awesome, what are you talking about?? The only horrid night map in SF is Devil's Perch......in fact, that map just plain sucks

I can only think of 2 maps off the top of my head. The one in the airport and the one where on team starts in a building next to the river. They could be the same map I don't remember for sure. I just don't enjoy the nv concept. Not being able to see takes the whole fun factor way for me.

If you guys wanted night maps in tac-mod I could suffer through one just to play...

While I enjoyed the nightmaps from SF, I think they play much better with less players ~32 max and only in infrequent bursts (like one a night).

If you think you might like to play a darker (not pitch black) map, check out Operation Frog and let us know what you think. We're considering this map for Tac Mod Map Pack 2.

This map is awesome! I think it will likely be almost as popular as steel thunder. Its dark but not so dark that it sucks. The visibility is about 60 yards comfortable, 85 yards if you want to get technical. The grass is such that if you go prone, you cant see much. But i think that you would be able to see a proned target from a crouched position, though not very well because of the visibility. The trees in the forests will offer the most cover, and keeping a squad spread out across a line will probably be most effective. The darkness gives an awesome eerie feeling to the map as well. This map will also be great in 1.4 as i see both transport choppers getting quite a bit of use transporting squads across the rather large map.

Few suggestions though, all of which can be shot down or supported probably after playing it once or twice. Firstly, i think the current setup of flags/UCBs isnt quite fair. Id suggest having both of the southern corner flags be UCBs, or at least give the american side a UCB. The NE corner could be american to start, and the chinese can have the NW with the rest of the flags starting neutral. The mobile AAs might have to go to make the transport choppers worth it, but the visibility might help the choppers out a bit.

Check out how Allied Intent modified Clean Sweep. Quite a bit darker than normal Clean Sweep, but not as dark as SF. I liked it.
