Question Why increase attack helo cannon explosion radius?

Do all attack helos have cannons?

Do you find that you don't die fast enough when caught in the open by an helo?

Yes, all the attack helos have cannons. You'll die pretty fast no matter what is shooting at you if you're out in the open. I think it just happens more with helos because they're fast and they've got great visibility, so they don't have any problem getting to you.

If the cannons have no splash damage at all then it's actually pretty hard to kill infantry unless the chopper is stationary (which is always a bad idea). I'm all for having some splash damage on the cannons, at least enough to make them useful, just not enough to make it like the MEC attack helo in vanilla. I can't really comment on the increase in the new version of Tac Mod because I don't think I've ever flown a chopper in anything but vanilla. I trust the Tac Mod guys though. IMO Tac Mod has gotten better with each version, and when there is something that doesn't work quite at well as it was planned (like the crazy long spawn timer from version .7 or something) then they fix it in the next version.

The explosion radius was increased from an already lowered value. I think the radius is about 2/3 of vanilla now.

hehe, hop in a gunner's seat and check it out - it's actually quite difficult using the nose mounted gun... in tacmod 1.3 it was REALLY tough

Haven't tried these, but previously it was damn near impossible to kill infantry with the canon on the choppers. Catch a squad laying next to a fence and they'd just point and laugh. Had better luck TV missiling them than shooting them with the gun.

I'd like to see this applies to BH/Aircow guns, with their damage reduced. Significantly increase the radius but greatly lower the damage so it's used as supressing fire (giving the dizzy effect) but doesn't kill fast unless you just stand there.

That'd be nice. Currently the Aircow is utterly useless except for ramming . On the TG servers I beleive that the BH is nerfed to act just like the Aircow, but I think having at least a little splash damage would make them much more useful since you'd actually be able to hit stuff.
