A couple of questions.
I was going over some of the things in the change log and I'm not sure I understand all of them. Primarily the "removed parachutes" and "removed generic enemy spotted message".
This explains why I couldn't get the chute to work when I bailed off that 4 story building (dead) and why I just kept getting "?" marks when I'd try to spot someone.
So why did these two things get removed?

Re: A couple of questions.
With parachutes, the game felt like Lemmings or "It is raining men, Hallelujah !" A jump and chute fest, airborne squads operating from cranes and rooftops...
Lack of chutes not only brought some realism but also slowed-down the speed of the game to more "tactical gaming" levels...
Generic messages are those "Enemy spotted" reports when you use your spotting commo. With the change, report is heard if only you spot the enemy. If you miss, a question mark will be shown on map but no report will be heard.

Re: A couple of questions.
This was done to remove some of the text "clutter" that pops up as well. "Alright, you're good to go!" and all that jazz isn't really needed to be audible and displayed in text. I don't remember exactly how much Duke was able to remove, but the theory was that when you see text up on the screen it's another squad trying to communicate with you.

Re: A couple of questions.
Ok. The parachute thing makes lots of sense now. As far as the spotting thing, am I going to have to pull up the commo rose and scroll down the list of things until I see the appropriate heading, "boat" "vehicle" etc......?
If so then it will be a lot faster for me just to have the ? show up and tell my squad mates what I saw at that location.
Thanks for clearing that stuff up for me.

Re: A couple of questions.
You are welcome Backlash. You dont need to specify target using the menu. Just point and spot.

Re: A couple of questions.
If your commo rose detects what the target is, the appropriate message, minimap icon, and sound will be played. If it can't detect the type of target, no sound is played and a question mark is displayed.
Reasons for the commo rose not detecting the target might be an object (i.e. tree) in your way.
So basically, the only time it's not played is when it can't detect the type of target.
