Re: snipers, post your tips!

What's the deal with people on your team that stand on your claymore and then punish you for teamkilling? Happens to me almost any time I place claymores or AT Mines...

I was playing a friend's game who's unlocked the M95, and I really hate it. It's supposed to be the most powerful sniper rifle in the game, yet I have had to hit people 3 times on the body before they drop. It's also horribly inaccurate at long range. Would anyone here choose the M95 over the M24?

Phelan, I am surprised by that find. I practices with the m24 on the crane in the oman map, shooting down into the sand and using the dust kick up as a reference. It was consistently a notch below the centre aim point.

Can anyone else repeat this? Has anyone found that it hits above the aim point?

This is from DICE

valued-tom asked: Is it true there is a trajectory decay on bullets, and is there a maximum range the bullets can travel from the sniper rifle?
[DICE]Sanosuke answers: Yes. Bullets do not just fly in a straight line in BF2.

thats just it most of us wont be listed on the leader board, we dont usually play in ranked servers cause they just blow!....I know that alot of us TGers could easily compete with ne one of those "leaders" on that board. I just dont have respect for someones game play when i know that the ranked/scoreing is so messed up and people cheat constantly on ranked servers...

This directly contradicts a developer chat I read a month or two ago. He may have been wrong, or they may have removed it, but he definitely said very clearly that all weapons in BF2 have bullet drop, but it's more pronounced for the sniper, as he usually is shooting from greater range.

Again, it's possible he was mistaken, but he seemed very sure of it.

Re: snipers, post your tips!

The M95 doesn't seem to be as accurate as the M24, and it requires a longer period of time where you have to stay still to maintain its accuracy. I prefer the M24 and I kind of regret unlocking the M95.

I also read this IRC interview. It was posted on the TotalBF2 page

do u notice the bolt clocking and reloading speed of the m24 is also faster the the m95? the advantage of the m95 is that it can shoot through heli's clockpit. the m95 sure comes in handy when playing the mec or the china side.

Yeah, the ability to shoot thru light armor was the reason I unlocked it. But I've yet to kill any helo pilot (BH passengers are another story). I haven't noticed any difference between the reloading speeds, but I haven't played with it much yet.

Re: snipers, post your tips!

i do both A and B i prefer the .50 cal over teh m24 anyday, for sniping a guy on the run i prefer not to follow with the scope yet set it still ahead of him and let him run into it,instead of scope chasing him around, but thats if he is running.
best defending spots on the chinese maps are under those buildings theres a small place under the ladder, set up claymores etc. i lasted about 10 minutes until they figured it out on dragon valley

Re: snipers, post your tips!

do claymores eventually vanish after being set down even if not triggered by anyone? how about vehicle mines for the engineer or c4 with spec ops?

and.... do they poof after the person who placed them dies to something?
