Completely banning the bombing (and presumably, other types of destruction) of unmanned enemy vehicles at spawn points seems excessive. If I've establshed air superiority, and I'm not either:
1. Camping spawning players
2. Making the destruction of these vehicles my focus/priority
... then it should be fine, if you're making a pass over the base, don't really have a better immediate use for your bombs, to trash the unmanned vehicles.

I often perform patrols like that, and on the occasions I have solid air superiority, those opportunities come up. Actually, I haven't done it - because it just doesn't seem worth spending the bombs on. However, someone else might think it's worth it.

Of course, that has nothing to do with situational awareness.
There is an argument to be made that destroying unmanned enemy vehicles is an excellent and strategic way to suppress the enemy's ability to wage war. Take out critical assets and reduce their fighting ability.

Re: UCB "Camping"

Cool, thanks Apophis I get it now. I think before I wa looking more for hard and fast rules, and didn't pay attention to intention.

So would I be correct in asuming that if I a in a spec-op team having destroyed the enemy UCB, I would be allowed to make my escape by stealing a helicopter, but I wouldn't be allowed to hang around for the sole intention of stealing the enemies' helicopters to deny them their use?

So admins need to now track WHO is flying over the UCB, how often they do it, determine when it becomes excessive? Think about that for a while and tell me how practical it is.

This task can be accomplished by setting up a defensive line OUTSIDE of the enemy UCB preventing them from being able to leave and reinforce or assault any external flags. Taking out the vehicles while people are spawning / unaware / and for the most part unable to defend themselves from multiple squads pummeling their UCB is very very very weak.

I've debated this issue in one form or another since we started hosting a BF1942 server. We've done it just about every way you can think of and the adaptation of the rules from BF1942 to BF2 solves the exact same problems we encountered back then and updates them for the changes in BF2. So I'm not going to debate it further.
