Re: CO interference with squad formation
If we are playing a scrimm or something then whatever the CO wants should be done. However, when it comes to regular pick up games the CO really needs to keep their nose out of squad management. Its okay to *request* that squad leaders make changes to their squad makeup, that squads split or join, but I would hate to see this stuff being treated as an order.

Co ALWAYS has the last word. It's a hard server rule.
"Squadleaders follow CO orders. Squadmembers follow Squadleader orders."

Re: CO interference with squad formation
Thats why it should be a request and not an order.

Re: CO interference with squad formation
From a behavioral standpoint requests from authority figures are tantamount to requesting the opposite be done.
First thing they teach you if you are a school teacher, chef, or officer(three jobs I happen to have had experience with) is that phrasing directions with pleasantries such as "Could you, would you, please," are perceived as optional to the point of suggesting non-compliance. When someone with the authority to order, gives any of that leeway, especially when contrasted with orders being the modus operendi, they see to be wanting you to not do it.
"I need you to shoot that man in the face."
"OK, now give him a medpack."
"Good, would you please plant some C4 on him if you get a chance."
"Detonate his corpse."
See how at that point you are almost dared not to follow the third directive? Mixing requests with orders is disaster IMHO. Its ensuing chaos eclipses whatever fleeting sense of freedom the SL briefly enjoyed.
It's a game that you *play*(as in for fun) to *win*(as in ends justifying the means). I myself balance those two by avoiding players with different playstyles rather than forcing the unwilling(when I am leading or following).
But order or order not, there is no request.
My two cents.

Re: CO interference with squad formation
Funny, in every business culture I've been exposed to in the past 15 years a 'request' from a boss is equivelent to an order and non-compliance is treated no differently when 'asked' or 'ordered' to perform a task.
Among the business cultures I've worked in are small, medium, large and downright huge corporate enviornments---- as well as the US Army.Kornkob
I want to move to Theory. Everything works in Theory.
