    Help,

After i play the game for 2 to 3 minutes bf2 cuts off and goes straight to desktop. Maybe somebody hacked me or something. i updated punkbuster and re-installed v 1.41 but no dice.

Question Re: after 2minutes of play bf2 shuts down to desktop

Sorry 2 hijack but the thread but it is ancient and describes my problem exactly...Since the other guy didn't return I'll answer the question. My specs are Intel C2D 6850 @ 3.0GHz, 4Gb of DDR3 @ 1333MHz, 2 ATI HD3870s, and a 750w Zalman PSU. And everything is nicely chilled (very good HSs and plenty of fans). Been running fine for years in BF2, till now. Have done nothing to change the performance of the rig or the game. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mav.

Forgot 2 mention, running XP-64, and have tried updating PB manually. Have not reinstalled the game as updating takes forever. Thanks

That is with 2 sticks (2x2Gb), havent tried with 1 stick however until recently it was running great at max settings. I appreciate the help though, Mav.

Re: after 2minutes of play bf2 shuts down to desktop

Ive had this happen to me in the past and the only thing that seemed to occasionally work was a complete reinstall, and i mean delete everything, even the stuff in my documents. BF2 seems to have some fundamental coding issues that just like to shut the game off. If it was running stable before and you truly havent changed anything than a full reinstall might do the trick. Another thing that you could try before reinstalling is updating your video card drivers.

Thumbs up Re: after 2minutes of play bf2 shuts down to desktop

Will try when I get back home...currently at Charleston, SC on Business trip. Doubtful that it will work though, b/c I have tried it on my laptop and desktop at no avail. And lappy is running Vista rather than XP-64. Still worth a try...I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks, Mav.
