"As often as it needs it" is a good rule of thumb.

If you are running a Windows Server operating system it is meant to run indefinitely unless an issue occurs to lock the system up. Rebooting a Windows OS system won't make much of a difference in performace I would say. If you seem to be having issues, reboot it. Otherwise, leave it be.
Now if you aren't running a Server OS, reboots can help.
