basically i have had this problem since problem since i got the retail, the game will crash to desktop whenever i try and play single player or host a local empty server, it works fine on multiplayer and i have never had a single problem other than this one, i have a feeling it has something to do with maps but it crashs even before the load screen appears, its basically as soon as i go to load a map it kicks me back to desktop, Anyone have any ideas? all id like to do is be able to have alittle practice without any sort of network lag so help would be great.

I had it when setting shaders to high and sometimes it just happens whilst my comp is fine, maybe changing your settings might help.

yeah, i did try it at the lowest setttings to no avail,

my specs are:

amd 64 3000+
2 gig ram
2 x 6600gts

Not sure then, maybe its a compatilibly or driver issue?

possibly, its strange that it only works in multiplayer, where most people have their problems

Works fine here on a 6800 GE on XP...
Hmm maybe setting compatibility to Win2000 might help, your drivers are at 77.77?
Have you done any recent defrag's/scans?

my pc is as clean as a whisle, fully defragged, decrapped, tho i havnt tried those new nvidia drivers yet, ill give em a go

EDIT: Also, on the single player crash, are you using a Single Player profile?

nope, no modding and just using my standard xink profile, i only have one profile to use, it used to only happen on the second game after a complete reinstall, so i could reinstall, play single player, then exit and when i tried to play a dif map it would bring up the descrition of the first map i played then get halfway loaded and crash, now it doesnt even get that far, just a straight kick after selecting a map to play

Try upgrading your sound card drivers. I thought I had a video issue but it turned out to be a sound blaster issue. This was causing total system crash for me when going single player.

Hey , did you solve this problem ?

The exact same thing is happening to me.

I used to be able to do a single player local server but now I cant.

It wont load a map or anything..it just kicks me back to the desktop.

I've lowered the resolution settings and everything..done 'low' on sound and shut off EAX.

I too just want to get some practice...but for some reason ( the one time I played offline ) it semt MORE laggy.

Which is weird.

Anyways , if you found the solution I'd like to hear it !!!

nope still no fix for it yet, its a fairly low priority issue for me so im just waiting for the patch, any progress at all with you?

Did you apply the 1.02 patch? I had similar hosting problems until that patch.
