AAR The Sunday Scrim Hosted By The 3rd

The scrim started by the people who wanted to play joined each other on the Teamspeak server. After getting squad leaders and squads chosen we enter the server. After entering the server the squad signup and began planning their first moves. And the squads were ready we started the match. I was squad leader for one of the teams MDFubar was squad lead for the other team. On my team for Birdman, DaBrit, Crux, Anospa, one other cannot remember (so forgive me who ever you are) and myself. For the first round I started by having them hold their spawn while I sprinted to the eastern dock flag. Upon losing my sprint ability they also spawned and grabbed the flag, then moved on to power station. We get too power station and grab the flag but the other team had crossed over the barge and grabbed eastern docks from behind us. We then moved on to junkyard trying to hold off the ticket loss we’re starting to gain but as usual when doing the roundabout running the other team had come up behind this and taken power station. So it was decided to instead of running away from them to turn and fight them with a push towards power station. Upon reaching power station we engage the large force of them and the ensuing battle many revise and ticket losses happened. During the battle I fell and they were unable to get to me to revive me at which point to have forgotten to reset my spawn point and spawned back at base camp. I told them to keep spawning at power station and I and crux sprinted towards eastern dock again to capturing that flag but was met by several people. Me and crux kept fighting our way too the flag we kept up reviving each other to keep the ticket bleed from increasing. After a bit we capture the flag and held it at which point the other team began pushing the power station flag. The squad members who were still at power station flag were doing nicely holding them off, even though they have lost their lives many times holding and they were able to hold it. Crux decided to help them a little by crossing the barge in the catwalk and take pot shots at them from behind for which point the other team would be caught in a small crossfire. For the rest of the first round crux would continue doing it and catching the other team in a crossfire. First round end results were PAC 40 EU 0.

After a three minute break the second round started with the same strategy as before with me sprinting towards junkyard, but instead of stopping I kept going while the squad spawned to stay behind while the rest of us continued on to power station. Upon reaching power station a small fire fight ensued when a small group of their team got there but we prevailed and capture the flag. The rest their team got there and began a heavy fire fight their squad leader deployed a squad leader beacon so their squad could spawn closer to the flag; the ensuing firefight lasted for several minutes. Upon realizing were the beacon was I climbed to a top of one of the tanks near tower station and shot at it destroying it. During that firefight crux sneakily crossed the river and captured eastern dock unbeknownst to them, there ticket count was very low. They spawned back to their base and pushed towards eastern dock crux did his best to hold it but due to overwhelming force is he lost it. By that time it was too late there to the count was too low a fought bravely but in the end it was too late second round final score was EU was somewhere between low 90’s to low 80’s, to PAC 0. I would like to thank crux and the 3rd for setting up this scrim. Fun was had by all involved and we hope that there are more like this in the future

Great game guys, thanx to all that participated.
Our strat in the first game was to take Junkyard and then split off and take Eastern, that went well. We decided to push for Power(a little greed killed everyone)where we encountered them enemy that was fighting as a whole squad, which overwhelmed our forces that where split in two. I basically called the wrong load-outs for kits and we took a beating. Once we got into a defiicit with the tickets, the only thing we where able to do was defend. the other team did a great job of getting better positioning on us and we just never recovered.
The second round we decided to go at it just like the opponenet, as a complete team. I layed a spawn beacon(which I don't particularly like using) and we had decided to take and hold Power Station.............well........that didn't work to well. We lost Eastern and could not recover from the bleed. Everyone fought well and I was glad to have the team I had. I made a few bad decisions and we lost. As I dais on TS afterwards, it was a great fight and definetly a learning experience. Any non-IHS members should always look forward to competing with IHS members, there is a lot to learn.

Well done everyone! Thanx to the 3rd for setting this up!

The irony of this is, we stopped going at it as a complete team partway through the first round because you were out-capping us with your split forces.

Now that is a lesson that I learned. With so few people I forgot that there was only one squad. (Note to self split the squad in to smaller groups when server is at a low population.) Anyway I would encourage any nonIHS people to try and make an effort to play in the next scrim as it will teach everyone involved what working as a team can do. So please sign up for the next scrim. Which by the way Crux or any IHS do you know when you can have another one?

Yeah, with so little time to actually work on a strat it seemed to be the best way. I am still running scenarios through my mind to see what might have helped. You definetly had the tactical advanrage in the second round, especially with positioning. The part I found kinda funny was that we had capped Junkyard and Eastern in the first round, and you had capped Eastern(before us) and Power Station with both teams still at 100 tickets. No shots fired. It made me laugh, then I died.

What about in the initial rush, a split squad doing fast caps, then a rally point, reuniting the squad, to box in the enemy at their only cap? In the past, whenever I've had a successful squad we've boxed in the enemy at certain points and I forbid my squad members from getting greedy for JUST ONE MORE CP, and instead we just hold them at a choke point. Usually on most servers, I'm the only SL issuing command "arrows" instead of command "attack/defend."

How would this have worked the other night? Just for future reference on TG servers, as the squad play is much tighter here, and just one mistake from one side snowballs so fast here, as it does in real life.

The problem is that unless you have a squad full of TG members or multiple squads like that, its going to be hard to get them to either sit still and watch the flag or in most cases where the squad leader is not willing to follow orders (in which case you get an admin to help) it will be difficult to run a good strategy. But that is only when I’ve been commander or squad leader.

It's situational. thing about Tunis is you can't box the other team in without splitting your forces. Because they can push out in two or three different directions.
