Re: Return of the Roflcopter
its true but look at the teams
pubs and some (3 + lyra) 3rd Versus the 8th and several TG members in full swing working with their squads well.
Lyra and I were just trying to break y'all up the best we could so our team could have a chance but I guess we'll have to try harder next timeReapator, overlord of ponies

Re: Return of the Roflcopter
well, to be more effective I would suggest staying a little longer before flying off. I was killed a number of times by the transport but you guys would fly off and I would get revived shortly after that.

Re: Return of the Roflcopter
I have to admit to not being a fan of the Roflcopter. The people manning the transport would often have a bigger impact on the ground rather than flying around harassing opposing squads. Just my take on it.

Re: Return of the Roflcopter
This can be the case, however harassment tactics can be very promising. Like the transport alone can pretty much just keep power station (I mean the middle flag, which I think is power station but I haven't played in a while
), which is a very important flag, not least because of the gunship. It can also keep taking the back flags/ drop motion mines outside of the enemy base to prevent vehicles coming out, and it might take a while for someone to get wise and bring something to get rid of it. Also this:
OK, it's not quite a roflcopter, but it's something that you could improvise on in the middle of the round. Gain a high altitude, get a good gunner that can keep transports away (and a pilot that can tread in the air and then start manoeuvring away from and threat if need be), and make sure that Power Station is the flag you always have so that the Gunship is always yours (and its not stolen), and you're set for the round.
P.S. I'd only expect this from the AIR IHS
.

Re: Return of the Roflcopter
thats right the 3 of us in it could make those tickets up like no problem.
3 guys go 78-1 versus 3 guys go 25-20 and take a flag or two that get taken back soon enoughReapator, overlord of ponies

Re: Return of the Roflcopter
Thats why I am usually not running a Trandport with more than 2 or 3 people on TG server.
A full manned transport is more of a .... "OMG I hate this vehicle map make it end quick!" statement

Re: Return of the Roflcopter
How many flags did you take or defend? How many troops did you transport so they could take or defend a flag? I'm not picking on anyone here, I'm just not a fan of this and yes, I do feel the three of you could have done more on the ground.
Let's look at Lyra's comment for a sec, because it touches on why I do not like roflcopters:
I find this comment interesting. Has the roflcopter contributed to its team loosing in the past? It has. I've been on teams where this was employed (by TG folks) and our team could only keep one flag (mine) not because the other team was stacked or that good, but because the other squads didn't do much at all. The folks in the roflcopter squad would have been much more effective on the ground participating in a squad and taking or defending another flag iinstead of going for kills. While the squad did end the round with the highest score, they did not contribute much to the team at all.

Re: Return of the Roflcopter
It's generally more fun (and funny) when implemented during a titan pub raid. In this situation the roflcopter is highly affective for denying access to your titan with only 2-3 people (a third for repairing and SAWW coverage). Get a round with the right gun working properly and you can be unstoppable. Keep in mind that this entire tactic hinges on the skill of the pilot. The pilot has to know when to swing the heli around for a quick SAWW shot and when to hover perfectly still. I have been on roflcopter trips with less than stellar pilots and it always ends in a smoldering heap of death and frustration.

In the spirit of teamwork and fun Lyra, FYAH, Jack, Grimm, and myself went on a ROFLCOPTER Pub raid on the -=GUN=- Titan server today
Pictures are worth a thousand words and scores are almost 60% of a thousand points

Re: Return of the Roflcopter
Definitely an insane round score wise. We held most flags the entire round by making sure none of their infantry on the ground stayed alive long while we hovered overhead. In an attempt to switch from Pilum to SAW I bailed from the 'copter, rushed a flag, killed a low-flying transport with my Pilum only to have it land on me forcing my 2nd death. Nice flying, shooting, and wrench work by all.
