AAR: What a long strange crash it's been...
I guess it was around 2-3am this morning. Bobslovski of MonkeyGamers and myself were goofing off on a titan server because our server had pretty much cleared out. Suddenly a sleepy voice over teamspeak...it was BB gun. "I couldn't sleep so I guess I'm coming back on" he says. The conquest server had populated a bit more so we decided to jump back in for some early morning TG fun. We got a late start on Camp G, so we marginally lost that one. Then we saw the next map loading and our hearts sank. Don't get me wrong...I love armor maps. But the 64 player version of Shuia Taiba with 20 players was going to be interesting. Well after two rounds that probably lasted an hour each there were twelve of us still standing. Then carebear loaded up.
It was 4 on 8. I started the squad on the EU side. It was Bob, BBgun, rais99, and myself VS. 8 pubs. I decided to run two fire teams consisting of a support and a medic in each team. We all spawned church and shut down the initial push up the east to the rear of church. But before the first fire team could move west, the enemy had already broken through. They snagged command and roadblock while we fought them off of south town. They moved the walker up capping church and office on the way and brought the battle to south town center. Before we could blink, south town center became our only flag. At this point we were up by 20 tickets or so and I made a decision. The only way for us to win this game was going to be by getting our backs against a wall and killing more of them than they could kill us. So I spawed recon and told my squad to fight to their deaths at south town while I cloaked up the hill. Rais99 had also snuck out of the fight and made his way to command center. So as he capped command I had the squad abandon South Town and spawn on me to cap the roadblock flag. I told them we would defend roadblock and hold them there as best we could. But if they ran over us there we would fall back to command. I knew from command we could easily fend them off even outnumbered as we were. We held roadblock tooth and nail. They sent troops. We killed troops. They brought the walker. We emp'd it and stole the walker. Once we had the walker, I planned to push back down the hill, but unfortunately it was quickly Jihad Jeeped. Before we could regroup they were all over us at roadblock. "Fall back to command!" I called. I knew at this point it was going to be a long, long night... We dug in at command and fought off wave after wave of invaders. The server picked up just a bit and we had a few pubbies join the squad. The enemy attacked east...we shut em down. West...no dice. I kept a few troops in the tower with me and the rest patrolling the ground. My squad fought like cornered bears, mauling the attacking forces as they pushed up the hill and eating their beacons like picnic lunches! We were up by 30-40 tickets. Then they got a lucky beacon on the north building rooftop. They started hitting us from two flanks...just what I was trying to avoid by taking our position at command center. We must have cleared the flag three times. Over an hour into the game tickets were something like 135 - 100 in our favor. We had just cleared the flag and were moving to take out the beacon when..............
THE SERVER CRASHED!!!
Bob was truly sad because he was going to break his high score...at the time of the crash he was leading both teams with 125 points...around 70-80 kills...and only halfway through the match. How dissappointing it was to have such an epic fight for survival interrupted by a crash. But my squad did an excellent job!! Thanks for all who hung in there. I know if that round had played out to the finish, we would have stood alone with the bodies of our foes piled to the top of the stairs of the the command center.

Lol! Looks like the 8th, 9th, and the 21st have my back on that one.
Just goes to show that good writing is non-partisan.
Enjoy the rep; it's well-deserved.

Re: AAR: What a long strange crash it's been...
Thanks for the +rep. I love you guys. But, if anyone deserves rep it's my squad for hanging in there and fighting so well, only to be rewared with a crash. So +rep to BB, rais99, and bob. Job well done guys!
Edit: Sorry I couldn't rep you |TG|rais99...you have no posts in the forums yet!
