You can always tell a TG squad by how fast it fills up
So, it's the start of a new round last night (1/8) and we're all looking at the 2 minute timer. The available squads are zero (i.e., no one was starting one). Now, there's one minute left and one person starts a squad (non-TG). The squad sits empty for another 10 seconds, and then one person joins it but no others.
There's about 40 seconds left now. Someone on TS makes the comment: "You can always tell a TG squad by how fast it fills up." So, I decided to test his statement. I hit the Create button for a squad and my finger was barely off the button and my squad was filled. I just had to laugh at how darn accurate that statement was.
The next round, I was late coming back and all the squads were full (there were at least 4 this time). The game had already started, so I decided to create a squad and just pick up any stragglers (there were only a couple people unassigned). Once again, within seconds, the squad is full and I didn't even get a chance to invite anyone.
To all the guys who squadded with me last night, hopefully you had a good time. Anyone else ever noticed the accuracy of this statement?

Haha, for well-known squadleads it fills faster than your brain can even register it. You gotta be quick with your trigger finger on that join button, haha.

If I know certain folks are making squads, I will hover like a vulture
Fubar it is easy, he names his squads fairly consistently, but others like the 9th are not always consistent with naming squads. Expanding the squad list is sometimes too late to join in time!

Re: You can always tell a TG squad by how fast it fills up
Sad thing is, I try to let my squad have fun but too often it is more viewed as weak squad leading or that the squad is not going to see the action, so people leave the squad.
I don't mean to center this around myself, but I use myself as an example of how some will not enter under certain TG squads. At times I have had communication problems, some reasons were out of my control. Whether it is right or not, your SM's confidence in you can be lost because of them not understanding why you do things or they feel like you are an idiot in a round.

I am usually forceful when I lead a squad on a map I know I can make a difference in. It also depends if there are no other TG-led squads. If there are, I just take the stragglers and we just run around try to look useful

Otherwise I request specific kits, tell SMs to hold spawn and direct them in the field on where to attack and how to approach the enemy flags.

Re: You can always tell a TG squad by how fast it fills up
I'm one of the said lurkers who wait for a TG member to start a squad. :P
Here's the perspective from a lurker:
I don't mind the waiting, because the fun is worth the wait. I've been in squads led by non-TG members and there's usually no direction and the squad is scattered everywhere.
When I first enter the server, I'll basically join any TG squad that still has vacancy. And in the subsequent rounds, I usually wait for the same squad leader to create a squad, then pray that my finger is fast enough to rejoin it.
So, Teflonman, yes. The statement is very accurate.

Re: You can always tell a TG squad by how fast it fills up
When you join a sqaud and you would like to continue to squad up with a particular SL, don't be afraid to ask while in game. Squads can often be locked to get the same peopel in. Another good trick, join us on TS and ask for invites for the squads there. I do not often lock my squad as I like to let new people ahve some fun with a little direction. Sometimes it goes well and sometimes...well you know how it goes!
LOL!

Re: You can always tell a TG squad by how fast it fills up
I'm guilty of hovering for certain SLs... DocGuo (assuming there aren't too many TGs in his squad already, I don't want to fill his Learn TG squads) and Fubar come to mind right off the bat, but one regular who doesn't wear TG tags also comes to mind. I know his name when I see it, but it's just not coming to me right now. If I'm not on their team or they aren't playing, I'll wait for any TG squad, and continue to hover the rest of the time I'm on for that one squad. The only exception comes when I know there is a good

Re: You can always tell a TG squad by how fast it fills up
I definately can tell how fast TG squads fill up. Very often when there's alot of people on my side who don't know who I am, I'll start a squad and get nobody to join. Then as soon as someone with the TG tags starts one, it's full. Now there's nothing wrong with that, I'm just confirming the fact that what Teflon says definately happens.
Even I'm guilty of it. On maps that I have a severe distate of leading on (namely Verdun, and Sidi), I find myself waiting until after the 2 minute countdown to try to squeeze into a TG squad so I can just SM on the maps that are less fun to SL on. If there's no TG squads, or they're all full, I start a squad a bit after the game actually starts so that I can play with a smaller squad that's easier to manage.
