A paranoid soldier is a dangerous soldier...
Meh, just had one earlier today. On Sidi the other squads filled up and I was pretty much odd man out. Set my squad name to "Support" with the intent of running spare armor up from UCB and providing long-range, conservative fire support. Ended up facing off against Zhohar and gang. APC naded, Quade Piluming me in the butt constantly, RDXed or motion mined at least once in there. I was understandably paranoid about infantry near my tank.
About 5 minutes before the end of the round I got a SM whose name I forget (sorry!!!). Told him what I was doing and suggested an engie kit. I was running support for ammo and hopes of IDS. He hops in the top gunner spot. Now we're getting smacked around by the gunship and Zhohar's squad. After a few deaths we were able to bring two tanks up and got a supply box drop from CO. Sweet! Now we can start really taking enemy tickets!
His tank goes down, somehow I survive several Pilum shots and a pass or two from the gunship. I'm hopping in and out of the tank so I won't die with it (Klaxons were going off constantly). Hop in, fire, hop out while it reloads, Q-Spot inf so I can line up the next shot when I hop in. One time I hop out I catch the edge of an EMP nade and HOLY CRAP there's an infantry right next to my tank!!!! KILL KILL KILL KILL!!!! Turns out it was my SM who had just spawned in, hopped out and was repairing the tank. I couldn't see the green name over his head nor ID his armor because of the EMP hit I took. I apologized profusely and we both laughed about it back at UCB waiting for the next tank.
Fortunately the round ended. I'm not sure if he would have survived more of my paranoia.

Re: A paranoid soldier is a dangerous soldier...
I do that all to frequently, like once a night... I'll come around a corner, see an infantry, and fire at his face with a shotgun, blowing him to pieces, only to find out that it was a squadmate following orders to stay close to me, the SL... lol!

Re: A paranoid soldier is a dangerous soldier...
once y bailed out from a transport before it was blown. y landed in an enemy flag and everoyone was sooting at me and i was kind of hidden with a sniper rifle killing enemies one by one, when a SM joins my squad and spawns on me i was so paranoid that as soon as he spawned he got a shoot in the head. i was trying to escape fron that position when the guy asked me "why did you killed me?" i was very fun when i told hih i thought he was an enemy

Re: A paranoid soldier is a dangerous soldier...
We were on top of the east building covering the Toll flag with grenades and rockets on Gibi the other night and we started to get heavy fire. I could see four or so infantry in the prone on the ground in front of the building and naturally decided to short toss a grenade from about the middle of the building. It however decided to take a nasty bounce off a squadie and effectively nuked my entire squad.

Paranoia is awesome...
Paranoia stops you from getting knifed
Paranoia stops you from getting flanked
Paranoia stops you from forgetting to reload
Paranoia stops you from forgetting to get behind cover
Paranoia stops you from from not bothering to pursue that soldier you thought you saw running to a back flag
Paranoia ftw...now stop standing behind me!

Of course it also makes you fall prey to RRDS and its cousin, RROOAS.
Reflexive Reload Death Syndrome - fire 5 rounds, kill an enemy and reload your 4/5ths full clip only to be mowed down by another enemy.
Reflexive Reload Out of Ammo Syndrome - fire 5 rounds in each clip killing 5 guys, getting your combat efficiency pin then realize you're out of ammo. Not so bad for recon/assault/support as it gives you a perfect excuse to work on that firearms efficiency pin but death to engies.

Re: A paranoid soldier is a dangerous soldier...
Engineers tend to forget they have a potent weapon at their disposal... the AV rocket!
When running around a corner you expect to have someone waiting for you, strafe the corner and fire forward diagonally downward. Often you will score a direct hit on a crouching/prone Voss bunny waiting to spring a trap. If it doesn't hit them head-on, drop prone as well and pull out the SMG. This works because the natural reaction to getting surprised like that is to get up, and you will now be prone and firing the remaining few bullets you need to finish them off.

Re: A paranoid soldier is a dangerous soldier...
I've fired my fair share of AV rockets at infantry before, and I just don't find them effective at all. If I don't get a direct hit (which is hard because of the lack of reticule unless your zoomed in - stupid when you're going around a corner), the enemy will usually survive to open fire with their invariably faster-firing weapon. So many times I have found myself yelling:
"HOW ARE YOU ALIVE!!!??? WHO DID THAT ROCKET NOT KILL YOU!!!???"
Mmm... SMGs are so fun.

Yeah no kidding, rockets need more splash damage.

How did I miss this?
Anyway there are a number of different things to prevent that from happening. Firstly, don't spam, but if you're keeping a constant eye on the no. of bullets in your clip - because you're constantly paranoid that you might be running out - then you'll be much more and much less "I need a revive, I ran out of bullets against a guy who reloaded before he ran into a hotzone". Second, God gave us the Support class and their lovely supply crate full of goodies for a reason. Lastly, a TG assault kit on the floor (of which there are usually plenty) will 7/8 times out of 10 have a defib and rockets and hopefully a gun you can use well (a good reason to practice with all the assault class weapons).

Ahhh, this takes me back to my CS(:S) days. I was a compulsive rusher in that game. On the bad rounds I'd rush right into the enemy's main push and get mowed down instantly. On the good rounds I'd find the one route they didn't cover and mow through them as I ran up their rear. It was not uncommon to see me get 3-5 kills in a row in no more than double as many seconds using just as many guns. The fastest reload in CS is dropping a weapon while standing on another. Esp. when you've shot him in the back. He's got a full clip.
