Re: TG vs TG Scrim
I had a good time SLing. As for team balance, this was the first TG vs. TG Scrim in a while. Since the last one, many new players have come, old have left, and many have gotten better (or even worse
). Judging by these factors, I think the team balance was ideal in the circumstances. Thank you Reader for organizing the scrim, I had a great time. We can improve next time.

Re: TG vs TG Scrim
My thoughts and overall response to previous post.
My goal was to have a fun event. Hopefully I acheived that goal. If the teams were unbalanced, I tried my best. We had six on each side that stepped up to be SLs, hopefully they will encourage others to become a SL. The more experience you develop the better your squad and team will be.
We learned some things from the admin side which we will incorporate into the next scrim. Fubar has already offered to help with the admin side of things for the next scrim. If anyone else is interested in helping send me a PM.
We lost and whether it was Planning, Better SLs, or morale before or during the game it doesn't matter. The point was to have fun and to bring back the desire for teamwork that made TG what it is.

Re: TG vs TG Scrim
Well I had a great time... as most of you!
And I believe that the overall setup was very good (just shy of perfect). So it’s looking pretty good for the next one :¬)
As for most people, the second round of Belgrade was my high point and I will keep a fond memory about it that I’ll cherish for some time!
And so I nod my hat to Reaper for some very good SLing... POWER TO THE PONIES!
Power to the pwnies!

Yes he was. He was SLing the squad I was in, all three rounds.

Re: TG vs TG Scrim
well as for the stacking I think the last day or two people were dropping like flies, so wherever there was a space open and the next one who signed up would get that space being in PAC or EU. i got a space in PAC just because i was next in line after signing up one or two days before the scrim. so i dont think they considered equality when the open spaces came up(correct me if im wrong).
Me being a particularly new TG member thought the teams were pretty much the same. but offcourse im new so i dont know everyones abilities and qualities.
as for the squads suddenly popping up, us(O'neill121) in the first round we were covering ruin and pond, so we would just go up and down those two flags, with zhohar's squad i think it was, i dont remember well.

Re: TG vs TG Scrim
I think it's pretty difficult for one person to handpick teams.
A possible solution is for the COs to pick soldiers from the bucket 1by1 in a private session.Without teamwork, you'll never survive.
Without betrayal you'll never win.

Re: TG vs TG Scrim
It is actually VERY difficult to do. The problem with the CO picking thing is it splits up IHS which is why at least some players play... although I don't know anyone but the 21st had enough it really made a difference.
When I did a TG internal scrim a long, long time ago I spent a ton of my time trying to figure out how to balance the thing while keeping IHS together. It's tough. I used stats as a cheat sheet (to those who think they're worthless, you're wrong), but as has been noted, that only begins to tell the story because you have to make sure there's good leadership on each side.
And THEN when you've got it balanced as much as you possibly can... between 5-10 people will drop or no show at the last minute leaving you to try and balance on the fly. It's a tough job.

Re: TG vs TG Scrim
well looking at my stats for instance would deceive you. ive only been playing this game for 5 months now, so you must imagine my first 2-3 months we're a blood bath for me just like i assume most of u were when you first started. but since then ive improved drastically and got my rankings up fairly quickly and now i consider myself i pretty good player. so stats isnt everything either.
same as a football(soccer) game or any other game for that matter. on paper you could have the best team, but a lot of times on paper dsnt cut it on the playing field. in our case the battlefield

Re: TG vs TG Scrim
that's right, but i thik it'S the best way tu figure it out, cause it's impossible to know about the skill of each player, so you need something to mess it.
and then there are the people who droped out and the other one who drops in, at last minute like me. i think its really difficult to balance the team, but for the first scrim, reader did a really good job! thanks again

Re: TG vs TG Scrim
i think also not the SM's themselves but the SL's play a major factor. i think on the PAC side we did have a lot of SL'ing "masters" we could say. the ability to stay alive and regroup the squad for continuous assault is a big advantage for any team. not to bring any other SL down or anything but just pointing it out..

Re: TG vs TG Scrim
In the end I'd say that balanced teams or not, it was a lot of fun for both sides, everyone gave it their best shot, from SMs,SLs,COs to admins. Thanks to everyone who participated, admins who fixed the server, and Reader for organizing this.
For me the second round of Belgrade was the best of the 3. Won't forget all the rockets I took head on, the revives that were right in between the rocks (where lots of rockets where headed for), and how I tried to hide from like 6 frags thrown right at me one after the other, so I really couldn't move from one building at ComTow.
