Conversely, when I see Reader, I say "Sweet, it's Reader, I'm gonna go shoot him."

Edit: Even if he's on my team. Muahahahaha

Re: But I don't wanna SL...

I share the same sentiments Fehmart. I think it was yesterday, when I took the helm of the "Not John" squad that you were in my squad. That whole game, I acted as Orbital Strike magnet. I think of the 10 or so strikes the enemy made in that game, I was smack dab in the middle of about 3 of them. That and, when there's other people around willing to squad lead, I'll just follow them. I can't make my own tactical decisions worth crap.

Oh yes, Berlin. It was like you had one of those cartoon thunderclouds chasing you and raining high explosive death. The funny thing about that round was that the "top squads" for our team that round were John, then Not John.

You know, I don't CO that much, but I don't think I've ever been able to ID individual soldiers from the CO screen. So how is it that Bomm drops arty directly on my head sometimes? I mean, there's no doubt that it was meant for me, because I die on the first or second salvo. D:

Re: But I don't wanna SL...

I know you're joking, but you can actually manage it. If you're a SL, then the commander knows exactly who you are all the time. If you're not, every time you use the ingame commands ("need supplies" "spotted" etc), you blink yellow and your name appears as having said that in the text part.

No, I meant when he's the enemy CO. That's the part that mystifies me.

I don't really mind the SL'ing that much but when I do it, I see people in my squad who I know are way better squad leaders than me. I would rather join some one elses squad than make you guys listen to me. I will leave that for the pub servers

Re: But I don't wanna SL...

The important thing is to step up and try it. The only way to get better at it is to take a few lumps while learning it. People who DO squad lead, who happen to be in your squad, might offer advice, but it's also good to try and find your own path to SLing.

Re: But I don't wanna SL...

If you don't have an annoying voice, I think making sure you're vocal is one of the best signs of a squad leader. Even if you're not saying much that's relevant, the constant sound of your voice keeps people together and on the same page. It also sets a good example for the squadmembers. If I'm in a squad with a vocal SL, then I'm more likely to be vocal myself.
