But I don't wanna SL...

Thanks to all the cool people in my squad today. Had a lot of fun leading people into certain death on a bunch of maps; can't remember all of them, but I think we hit Cerbere, Sidi (hate this map), Belgrade (auto-switch put me on the wrong end of all the TGers that somehow got lumped on one team), and Camp Gib (real nice job on COing the first EU round Zoopy; win by 3 tickets).

In no particular order, I remember Acid from Verdun, theObfuscator, Gambit7, ultrablue and jonan with the revives and ammo so I didn't have to go Bommando on anyone, Sajier, and I'm really sorry I can't remember anyone else's name. I gotta make a habit of taking shots of the round summaries.

The "unique" squad names ward off evil spirits. Honest.

Bravo, sometimes we have to give it back to the community. I have been Squad mates for as long as I play here until now. Yeah, Being SL took away some of your freedom as you cannot be as gung-ho like you normally could. But I found a new taste for it. Man I have been missing out in BF2 for not doing Squad Leading.

Nice. Bommando as an idiom like: "go postal". Can I add something to the lexicon? A "reverse Bommando"? I was SL with Bom in my squad and he said that I should be very vocal about when I need to be revived. Of course he's absolutely right but it made me chuckle since it came from Bom. (At the time, he was having a really awful night - I've been there)

When you created the squad Fehmart, I remember you saying the exact title of this thread. Pretty funny, but you kept with it and probably racked up a crapload of SL points with a squad like us .

Seriously, there's some big benefits to being SL if you have the talent and can keep people together. The 2 main benefits is the SL bonus points, and you get a priority for revive. Alot of the KD ratios of the people who SL a majority of the time are boosted by the sheer number of revives they get (not that I'm saying they aren't get at combat, but the revives certainly help).

Re: But I don't wanna SL...

I got roped into being SL this afternoon and it was awful. I'm on this old 2200+, 128MB vid card computer for the holidays, and I can barely play... so it's really hard to focus on leading as well. So I apologize to anyone that was in my squad today. I don't think i'm the best SL, but usually i'm not that bad.

All of you new 2142 TG generation SLs are doing an excellent job. The round Fehmart mentioned was quite memorable. I always stray away from SLing myself. I find myself enjoying the soldier role rather than leadership.

Re: But I don't wanna SL...

Sorry I haven't been responding; been Intarweb-less for the past couple days.

I think we can make Bomm's name into a common adjective, if we try hard enough lol

Yeah, sometimes I just feel like taking orders and interpreting them as necessary to achieve victory, instead of being responsible for 5 other people and their virtual lives, but usually I end up biting the bullet and making some wacky squad name. I'm surprised that you recognized "Ooendan", Penguin (the final song on the original was one of the openings for FMA). And now that I consider it, Penguin and Obfuscator sure sounded alike, which explains a lot...

Re: But I don't wanna SL...

I have a new respect or I should call it dread for the 4th. I was squad leading on Gibraltar, we was just a mobile 3 men PAC squad. We took a buggy with me as driver and another team mate on the gunner seat. Acid here took 2 snap shots and left us both saying WTF?

I'm an accomplished sniper myself but pulling this shorta thing is insane. Kudo to you man.

Re: But I don't wanna SL...

Thanks, that was just a funny moment. I sat there laughing for a good 10 seconds after. I was watching the flag and saw you get into the buggie, then started shooting at the passenger as he ran toward the car. I then swiched to the big head in the driver seat and fired away.

Re: But I don't wanna SL...

I had to laugh when I saw this thread. I don't mind being SL, but if I join a squad, I feel bad for all those people that were waiting for me to start one. Thanks to all the people that do join my squad, it gives me a warm fuzzy to see it fill up so fast. Thanks again!

Reader, your name's quite popular in the game. I heard some TG members look at a walker and say, "Oh no! It's Reader! Run!" I'm not surprised your squad fills up so fast when you make one.
