Talking I think i'm in love with TG (Long post. Read, Its enjoyable)

(I know this is long, but I'd reccomend you read it, its fun. And hey its not like you haven't got the free time)

I have to say it, TG has got this game down. I love the quality of gameplay and teamwork found on your server. Like many others, i'll gladly wait a few minutes for a spot to open up on the server instead of joining some fragfest elsewhere.

I played a lot of games tonight, must have been at the least about five hours of gaming all of which left me stunned. Now if only I had the memory to remember every detail...

But really, it was great. Went squad leader for the majority of rounds and ended up with some really good people in my squad - both TG guys, and non-tg. Its surprising becuase a lot of people come to the server regularly for the gameplay, so usually I can get a squad with a lot of teamwork players even if they dont have a tag. You'll have to forgive me for leaving out names, I know i'll forget a few and then feel bad I left em out. But those who played with me, you know who you are!

Specifics... Lets see...
I remember one round getting a squad together to utilize the airbus (transport) on Shuhia Taiba as much as possible. We all hopped in with a nice mix, mostly of engineer and support, raining grenades, motion mines, and turret fire from above. Surprisingly I managed to keep everyone interested in this endeavour even though it wasn't even remotely efficient at generating points, especially after a few mega-crashes from AA fire (Mostly my fault). But it was fun all around just seeing us get together to see what we could do.
After the first few tries things got better and I felt like we were doing well. But still, an experienced crew who knew eachother and worked together for some time would have beaten us... It just makes me wonder of the posibilities.

I had an amazing round with a squad of 6 assault kits on Tunis Harbor. From what I remember it was 4 TG guys and another server regular. We absolutly ROCKED! Honestly I haven't had guys who worked this well ever before. They followed all my orders, STUCK TOGETHER, rezzed eachother, moved out when I told em to, chatted it up without clogging VOIP, used grenades properly, and completely obliterated everything in our path.
I remember looking at the score menu about a third of the way through the game. Between our entire 6 man squad, we had two deaths. Four of our teammates were on the top of our team's scoreboard, with the other two not far behind. Plenty of griping about having to move around - the comm used us pretty much as the gopher boys, jogging from flag to flag because we were constantly forced on attack. Unfortunately this meant we lost flags behind us but it was easy to turn around and get a couple more kills.
I remember ending that game with a huge smile on my face.
Props to Bommando as well, although I never played with him on my team. Huge reputation there, and I can see why he has it. It was great playing against him. I remember one time capping Eastern Docks with the majority of my squad when BOOM! A plethora of RDX placed EVERYWHERE goes off and absolutely destroys us. Fortunately we'd had a late runner who managed to run up and rez us - so I didn't feel too angry. But it was truly fun, especially hearing all the shouts of "Oh my gosh did that really happen?!?!" and laughter on the squad channel.

(This last bit is narrative, because this game was absolutely incredible and I don't know how else to convey that)

The last battle, and possibly even more amazing than the Tunis Harbor, occured on Cerebre Landing. I was on the EU team, defending, with a squad mostly made up of guys I hadn't seen before. They really worked out a lot better than I had expected - especially sticking together more than pickup groups do.
The most peculiar thing happened during this battle, and i'm not quite sure how to describe it. It really felt truly like a real fight in the way the front line moved and capture points fell. The game began with quick defeats at Office Ruins and Church. There was some fighting at the town center but once that fell, my squad became the only thing between the enemy and roadblock.
We quickly took position just to the southwest of roadblock, between the two flags. I urged my men to stay away from the wall overlooking the town center due to rockets and grenades. Our friendly squads moved into position to the east so there was no worry of fire from that flank. We fought, and fought, and fought. The anticipation of the onslaught ever growing worse. Our team so far had been quickly pushed back, and was facing about a fifty point disadvantage.
As the minutes passed, I noticed that each time I moved up to the 'front line', we had fallen back a few feet. I mean an actual, tangible, few feet every time I tried to move up. It was a wall of impending doom that I couldn't stop - but I sure as hell could drop as many frags and get as many rezzes as possible during the time I had left. The furthest distance the engagements reached was about 30-40 ft, so I am talking REAL close fighting here. And the furthest I ran from the flag to reach the front line must have been about 50-100 ft. Both numbers shrinked as the time passed, and gave the sense that we were really truly retreating. Several times I ran out of ammunition (I mean all of my main weapon ammunition, my grenades, my rockets; I was left down to my pistol) and had to run in search of the nearest support soldier.
Eventually we ended up with our backs practically to the roadblock flag, outnumbered and outgunned. It was time to fortify the last line of defence at the command center. That is, after our squad was executed by the onslaught of enemy gunfire.
New spawn. Rally the squad and set out to the position given by the commander. We are assigned to the western entrance of the command center, right on top of the EMP unit. There will be two squads guarding here, mine and another. The other two squads on the eastern side. Set the defend order, take a few breaths, and prepare for an orchestra of explosions.
I've never seen such a thing. There was so much carnage, the pre-recorded screams of soldiers dying in battle rose from all around me. That doesn't even include the hectic shouts on VOIP and multitude of "Enemy Spotted" reports laid down by my squad. I seriously felt like I had been thrust into some kind of futuristic Saving Private Ryan. Once again the amazing sense of teamwork found on this server came through. I can't even describe to you how proud I felt seeing every assault kit on our side of the line doing their duty and rezzing teammates. Plenty of med/ammunition hubs dropped as well.
My squad held out there for the last 100 points of the game, only once letting the enemy - in the form of a walker - through. In that case I listened to the comm order our side of the defence line back as he prepped up the emp/orbital. When I told my squad mates what was going down, they actually listened! I can't even convey how good it felt to have people listen to you when you are SL. We promptly moved out of the orbital zone and watched as the enemy battle walker, and a squad of troops, got sufficiently ground to pieces. From what I remember not a single friendly fire casualty from the artillery (Possibly one guy who got rezzed). Before the smoke had cleared we were back in positions tossing firepower downrange.
As it turns out the alamo held! We did not give up and we did not lose the comm center. Unfortunately this story has a sad ending, we were defeated the slow and painful way. Our reinforcements ran out and the EU force was eventually left empty-handed. The final score was 20-0. I would say we did very well given the start of that game, and I want to salute everyone and anyone who played; especially the PAC team. Charging up a hill is not easy.

Not only was it a good game, I did well on a personal level. My score at the end of the game was 106. 54 teamwork points, 52 kills, 9 deaths. Score per minute of 4.05. I managed to snag my Good Conduct medal on the way as well. Too bad I didn't write down the carreer points, you'll have to forgive me. I can confidently say my carreer points from that game alone passed the 200 mark (No fancy ribbons or badges either), possibly reached 300 but that might be wishful thinking.

Anyways sorry for the long post. I hope you guys had as much fun tonight as I did - post your experiences as well, i'd love to see how you were doing.
Congratulations on building such a successful community of gamers. In the future I'd love to get involved and maybe help out the server as well.

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Root: Welcome to TG. Feel free to punctuate your sentences correctly. Welcome to TG Vendi. I'm sure you've already read the server rules and SOP's but if not then check them out.

I was in your squad on Tunis. Unfortunately last night 2142 was plagued with CTD's for me, so I would constantly have to rejoin, so I didn't stay on long after that.

We got a new SL who loves his job... Hopefully you won't be discouraged by occasional hard headed SMs.... I think SL is the most fun role if you get good at it and if you have 5 SM s ready to lay it out there for you.

Shoot ya on the Battlefield, or revive... Either way.

Welcome to TG, this is how we all started, in pure amazement that such a place existed

Re: I think i'm in love with TG (Long post. Read, Its enjoyable)

Your post reminds me of the way I felt when I found TG coincidentally, back when I played BF2. I was on the verge of quitting BF2, because there was a command hierarchy and a framework for teamplay, that was sadly underutilized on most pubbie servers. Every server I went to that purported teamplay was still just full of stupidity. Teams were just people that agreed not to shoot each other. Then, there was TG.

The rest is history.

Welcome to TG Vendi! Remember that playing on the server is really only half of the experience here, we have a great community of like minded people here in the forums.
