Pub server adventure
SLs: Zoopy (right?) and desert eagle
Sarc, Fuzz, and I were along for the ride, and playing off the TG server feels like we're playing 2142 on easy mode. A few times, our squad had more points than all 3 other squads during debriefing, which is more a reflection of them than us. The best quote I have from our time was a round of Berlin where we walked, fairly unopposed, from PAC spawn to Outpost, and proceeded to capture and destroy assets. I guess he wasn't used to dedicated demolitions because he kept sending in supplies to repair assets. The enemy commander, at one point, said in global chat, "pac get out of eu base", as if harsh language was going to work on us lol |

Re: Pub server adventure
Stones, sticks and harsh language can be deadly even in the icy state of the futuristic world on year 2142. I did that last night too, just me and a cooperative player even though he can only type on the team channel. The fact is that it only take a marginally function squad like myself to took all 3 major flags on Gibraltar unopposed and I was a medic with shotgun (don't even need rockets coz they don't take cover).

Re: Pub server adventure
Yeah Fehmart, that was fun, I came in about halfway through (I guess) and since no one was COing for the PAC, I hopped in and took charge. Zoopy's squad was practically the only one worth it, but the others weren't quite useless. It's true I had another squad leader constantly (well, maybe not constantly, but almost) informing me he had been sniped and asking for a UAV verbally, no commo rose request. Some kid, but hey, he was trying. At that point we had them pinned in Square, so they were resorting to sniper tactics on a large scale and for some reason trying to get back crossroads and roadblock. Understandable, as I had Zoopy's squad defending aggressively from Outpost. Honestly, it was like herding cats, and the only thing that kept me from using language Bommando would cringe at was Zoopy and his merry band of TGers wasting the enemy. Oh yeah, and the other team had our APC half the time from teammates driving it up and then hopping out. Brilliant.
Next round is titan, and Zoopy decides to take a break from SLing. We wait for the magical randomness to choose our new SL, and it's, me? Okay, I can do that. Long story short, we violated their titan (is the term rape acceptable in this context?) most viciously, playing whack-a-silo til the shields drop then blowing the consoles in record time (I think). 30 seconds later, we win. Easy. Next couple of rounds pretty much follow this same formula, with Sarc, Fuzzy, Fehmart, and I forget the fourth TGer. It seemed every match lasted less time as we charged forth to victory. Fehmart drops out, followed in subsequent rounds by the rest of the TG guys, and though I was sad to see them go, I was delighted by who replaced them, public guys who were as good as TGers. They listened to orders, fought together, were informative, used VOIP, I would have thought I was on TG except for the fact that we whooped the other team every single time, without exception. These were some good guys. Belgrade comes up when it switches to a conquest map, and we do the old 'rush Statue' thing, without opposition strangely. I monopolize the walker and my squad supports, racking it up against the disorganized enemy. They tried monorail sniping, we blew them off, they brought armor, I wasted it, the fired orbital strikes, we ran, it was glorious. Camp Gibralter comes up, and since the teams don't change, I anticipate the slog that is so common on TG servers. Boy, was I wrong! First round, we take the buggy, head to EU base, steal the walker, cap the flag, without seeing a single enemy! It was unreal! I have no clue how that happened, but hey, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. One of my squadies brings our walker, and with a few supply crates dropped from our CO, we just waste them. Well, not me so much, as I was trying to get my squadies to blow the assets, and that was a parade of comedy. See, the guy I finally got to go recon (as we had no kits in our squad for that) hadn't played this map before, so we spent what seemed like 5 minutes trying to find and destroy all the assets. Of course, I was in the EU walker, and I wasn't about to leave it to a moronic teammate to go get blown up, so we had a hilarious time talking about it. Finally, we figure out that the assets had been blown, so we just go have some fun before the round ends. Next round, it's not so easy, as they man the walker and I have to ditch and go for Ruins, usual story. We take EU base with some difficulty, but not as much as I expected, and then the match gets odd. We had them at Central Base and Toll, and man, we had infiltrators out the ying-yang going for EU base. My squad moves up, eventually we take Central and Toll, when "Oh crap!" The enemy is taking Ruins and EU Base! We retake Ruins, then have a hard-fought battle for EU base, finally ending in the round with a mop-up. My final rounds end with Titan on Sidi, and there was some good and easy times. After taking all the silos (there were only 10 people to a side now), a squadmate and I take the gunship for a spin, he flying and I gunning. we rack it up, and I get a few hits with TVMs, before the titan shields drop and we assault. We blow the consoles in seconds, rush in, only to find that I've got 3 RDX and no one brought support. This is amusing considering we are all standing around trying to figure out what to do, which ends in one of my squadies suiciding and returning support, easy since I had the gun drone. We get some bang juice, make some music, and when we abandon ship, one of my buddies lands on my head! Good times. I think I might like that server. By the way Fehmart, why'd you drop and rejoin a couple times? Connection problems? |

Yeah, I was pretty laggy on and off on those servers for whatever reason, and it really sucks when you have an enemy, your sights are already up, and all you have to do is click, when the lag monster storms in.

Re: Pub server adventure
Yea, that was one of the best moments I've had pubbing in a long time, no doubt because of the skill and comradery of my fellow TGers. The thing that makes pubbing fun in it's own way is that if you use teamwork like we always do, you really can own the server most of the time because you have an unfair advantage. Communication is a wonderful thing.
Except when communication involves the concept of teabagging being explained to you... in which case, you become emotionally scarred for life. But in a good way.
