06/02 Tunis Harbor - a bit of worry
So it happened on Tunis. At the start of the round 3 Squads of 6 people formed. There was a 4th one with only 4 people which I joined.
The Squadleader tho decided to leave and SL was put on me. Knowing how everyone hates SL I decided to give it a try even tho I am not the best one. Since we were stuck on a small squad I decided to defend eastern docks. We moved towards the middle ship to keep the enemy from crossing over. After a bit 3 more guys from TG joined up and I was asked over VOIP if we were "just" defending Eastern Docks. I said yes and to get some rifle rockets out and have some fun. But to my surprise one guy left the squad shortly after and opened a new one. The two others followed him. Hmmm.. ok... but WHAT did they do? Defend the middle flag together with all the other squads leaving behind me and the last TG guy alone at Eastern Docks stuck with some random sniper SM. While the whole rest of our team was clustered up in the middle. Shortly thereafter a full EU TG Squad crossed the boat and easily sloughtered our 3 man squad. They took Eastern Docks in a rush and our team was left with 1 flag. By now even the last man left the squad and joined up with the others. Now a whole lot of people came back to take Eastern Docks. This weakened the defense of our middle flag by too much and the EU guys were able to take it. We spend a lot of time bleeding with 1 flag and dead people in our tries to get back a second flag. We lost the round but just by a very small difference. I really dont know what was up. Was defending Eastern Docks too boring? Were my SL abilities that bad? If I am not that good at SLing please tell me that - you can take over SLing and I am happy to follow your orders. But dont just leave the squad and go to an already heavily defended flag leaving use wide open on the flank. Last edited by Lyramion; 02-06-2007 at 11:00 PM. |

For what it's worth, I always enjoy playing with you Lyra. Don't give up on the SL position. You are one of the most experienced and skilled players here and people should learn from your example.

i'll bet you ten dollars that if you had TG in front of your name, no one would have left. I've played with you enough to know your competence, but i think some members just look for the tag.

Well, the IDIOT probably doesn't help
I found you to be a good player, I don't think I've been in a squad led by you though.

I was the random sniper. in your squad
![]() You were doing pretty good I thought. I got so caught up in the moment before I knew it, I was the only person left in the squad without realzing the commander was talking to me. I did also realize how messed up it was having 98% of the team at the power station. |

Re: 06/02 Tunis Harbor - a bit of worry
I'm sorry to hear that Lyra. We end up in squads a lot, but I usually never get to see you SL. I don't know why that game went down that way, but I'd stick in your squad. Besides, rockets at the east three-story next to the boat are easy kills on snipers who think they're hot because they're prone on a catwalk.

Re: 06/02 Tunis Harbor - a bit of worry
For a short explanation - http://www.bf2-idiot.de/
Its my German Gaming Community and the reason I wear the tag. I might just slap on a "TG" some time soon. I dont SL often because there always is that little Recon inside me telling me to flank the enemy and put RDX into their pockets - not the right qualifications for beeing a SL. |

Lyra, for what its worth, you're a fine player and I always enjoy it when you're in my squad either as a fellow SM or as the SL.

Re: 06/02 Tunis Harbor - a bit of worry
I've had this happen to me as well. If you join that last most likely leaderless squad, most of those guys are not there to sit around and defend a flag.

Re: 06/02 Tunis Harbor - a bit of worry
Well in all honesty, I am one of the people mentioned above. The only reason I left though is becaused my game crashed to the desktop. When I came back I joined the squad that I thought I was in before since it was made up of most of the same team members. Sorry Lyramion.

Re: 06/02 Tunis Harbor - a bit of worry
Do what the SL asks you to do. If it turns out they are completely incompetent, then DON'T join their squad, next round.
It won't kill you to give someone a chance. The other night, 5 TG flagged players circled my spawn beacon, and stood there slaughtering the droppers until I had warned everyone off. TG doesn't make you good, or even ethical. It means you typed "tg" in the clan tag input field. The rest is up to you.

Re: 06/02 Tunis Harbor - a bit of worry
Note that spawn camping a beacon is allowed! The podders are in no way desorientated as where they gonna spawn and that they will spawn at a little point that makes funny sounds attracting everyone. When your beacon is camped stop spawning.

Re: 06/02 Tunis Harbor - a bit of worry
I knew someone would say that.
Forget that for a minute, and tell me from your gut if five people, in a 5 meter circle around a beacon is ok.
