Cerbere about 10:00 2/22

I had the most fun game commanding I have ever had last night. I was commander of the EU side and almost immediatley the other team got through and took roadblock. Church fell a few minutes later. I pulled everyone back to command center to clear out the few enemies there and then defend. All the squads listened perfectly. We were about thirty tickets down the entire game but everyone held there positions even with a fierce attack from the pac side. We closed the gap and pulled ahead to make it 26-25 and then everyone including my self got a little too excited and started pushing forward and we ended up losing. This was probably the longest standoff I have ever seen at cerbere. Like I said all 5 squads listened perfectly even though only 2 had TG members in it. Great job to everyone I wish we could have pulled it off. (Sorry I can't remember any names)

I was on the PAC side of that particular game and afterwards I was so wiped from the intensity (and from the previous Cerbere Landing bloodbath) that I called it a night afterwards.

I couldn't get into a squad, so I just ran around roadblock and along the flanks reviving, healing, and dealing out ammunition to the rocketers as a solo squad member. I ended up with 25 points, of which only five or so were kills.

I had to stop after this also but I was so frustrated with my self for not telling everyone to hold there positions at the end I had trouble going to sleep. I think we would have one if we could have just held our position and not moved up. I just got too excited about finally taking the lead. Will not happen again though. I have learned my lesson.

SL of squad 4 during all of this, my apologies for being one of the ones that didn't stay back at the end. You did a fine job of commanding and at one point I gave the order to defend and not go forward, noticing the score was so close........but as you said....got excited and went nutzo. I did change kits 3 times to better suit our situation and the poeple that where in my squad performed well.

Great Game!

Re: Cerbere about 10:00 2/22

i was on the other team leading a squad of solid tgers. we set up tents and camped hard. it was very much a test of will to see which side would blink first and go on the attack. our lead varied between 30-20 tickets and got real close during the end. when it got close at end, we all started reviving like mad. it got to the point we were fighting over revives. if we were not reviving, we were rocket spamming.

it was really interstng to see how stagnant the flags were. with all the ids1 deployed the lines were drawn at roadblock 3 mins into the game, and stayed that way for the next 200 tickets.

You bring up a good point that I've been meaning to ponder on in the forums here. A number of people made the comment about how unusual it was to see this stalemate on the map. I think that these occurances will become more common as the TG-way ranks increase. As BF2142 goes, there are certain tactics that the TG players have come to know work with different maps. Cerbere Landing is a great example. TG commanders know to OB the hills east of Church early on. SL's know to deploy motion mines on the road outside church to block buggies in the first 15 seconds. Tunis Harbor... everyone runs for Power Station right away. Then they try to hop the barge and cut across either to Eastern Docks or Junkyard.

Take these tactics to a public server and, for the most part, a well coordinated squad or pair of squads will wreak havoc on the enemy.

But... what happens when ALL the players are TG and the TGers know what the other TGers will try to do. What new tactics come into play to counter these original tactics? And then what new tactics are formulated to counter those tactics? That... is what I love about the TG BF2142 community. This... is what I can't wait to see and be a part of.

I... am very fond of "..." apparently.

watching the evolution of tactics is a enjoyable thing. the tactics that worked even 2 weeks ago now need to be modified. predictability gets you killed. on cerbere, many tgers would try to hit the west and run up to roadblock. now that route is really well defended. I have now started to hit the middle road with some success. im guessing church will be less and less defended over time, and the hill assualt at church will become more viable.

my guess is that no matter the tactic, they will need to be dynamic and subject to change.

what I find myself doing more and more and trying each tactic in turn. try center first and see where defense is strongest. if that fails, try west or east. try cloaked with beacon placment near roadblock. try brute force assualt with otus.

as defender, im seeing more and more tactics like this, where sqauds are changing thier assault plans.

it makes for a very intersting game.

lets hope the new unlocks will bring with them some new tactics.

Re: Cerbere about 10:00 2/22

This becomes almost the best part of gaming with a good community. When i was on squads in the past we would scrim against each other to learn how to defeat our own tactics. We learned alot about our own weaknesses and strengths, and it really helped us fight better. I can definetly see the difference between TG players and the rest.

Re: Cerbere about 10:00 2/22

PAC was *REALLY* close to smashing through the west towards the later part of the round. I don't think they realized how close they were.

I was focusing on running around healing and reviving like a madman the whle round to try to counter our ticket deficit but once the fight moved down the hill at the very end there was no cover to hide behind and thats when we lost the advantage.

We were on the east side for that whole thing, and somewhere near the end a couple of jokers took a walker up the hill and then just bailed from it, leaving it wide open. I have no clue what they were thinking but we laughed as we slaughtered them and then took their walker.

I was on PAC for that round in Science's squad. I had a nice 19 and 0 run all with my rockets shooting up to com center. I think our team tried to push on com center too much and thats what made it close. I know a couple of times I saw at least 10 red dots from a uav all bunched up waiting for my rockets but couldn't fire because we had a squad trying to rush in only to get mowed down.

That is what I was relying on. I was hoping that our side would be more patient than yours and it almost payed off. We just lost our cool when we took the lead. I still say that was the most intense round I have commanded. Normally commanding is somewhat slow but I was on the edge of my seat for that one.

Man, that was definitely an awesome round. Probably my Favorite as far as "Care bear" Landing goes... Sc1ence was SL and was awesome. Solid medic crew for the last 50 tix or so and racked up a huge amount of teamwork score! Its really nice when you go down to not even have to worry about where to spawn because you know a squadmate will pick you right up...
