BFCL Week 3 Preview
The map this week is the 16 person version of cerbere landing.

This 3rd week of competition promises to provide a great deal of drama and trauma. The marquee matchup this week is the 3rd SFD vs. the 9th MID. Both are in house sqauds here at TG.
The 9th Mobile Infantry was formed on 05 December 2006 by Pfeil2281 and Revark. It was the first Sponsored Squad created specifically for Battlefield 2142 within the Tactical Gamer community. At some point in time, both Revark and Pfeil left the 9th. Lorax74 then assumed leadership of the squad in February of 2007 and Crux soon became 2nd in command. Sc1ence joined up with the 9th and soon became friends with Crux as they were in a fireteam together. At the time, the 9th was divided into functional fireteams. Sc1ence and Crux found that they both shared a vision for the 9th and set about reshaping their unit to match this vision.
They met with some resistance and rather than rock the boat, decided it was best to part with the 9th and start thier own squad. Hence, the 3rd SFD was formed on 03-29-2007. The founding members of the 3rd are Crux, sc1ence, Wafflehouschef and Bleedingknee (lousybackup is his forum name). These 4 former members of the 9th had gotten used to playing with each other when the 9th was formed into dedicated fireteams. Crux and sc1ence started the 3rd, and within hours of them posting their intentions to leave the 9th and form a new squad, Knee and Waffle requested to join. No other members of the 3rd are former 9th members nor has the 3rd tried to recruit any of the 9th’s members at any time, knee and waffle included.
The split was as friendly as a split of this nature can be. There was minimal drama as the 9th and 3rd are both made up of mature players with mutual respect. That being said, there is clearly a competitive side to both squads. There are bragging rights on the line and neither side wants to lose this one. I am sure both the 9th and the 3rd are confident that they can secure a victory here. The tension should be very high as we face off in the 16 player version of cerbere landing.
The 9th and 3rd will be on the same side earlier in the day during our internal TG scrim. Going from brothers in arms to sworn enemies within the span of a few hours should only add to the drama for this match.
The 9th lost their first match to the well respected team of TAW and won last weeks nail biter against the 3rd Armored Cavalry by a thin margin. The 9th now sits in 5th place out of 8 teams with record of 1-1 and -19 net tickets.
The 3rd has played ACR two weeks in a row due to a scheduling snafu. ACR proved to be no match for the 3rd in last weeks match which was won handily by the 3rd. The 3rd is now sitting in 2nd place with 2 wins and a net total ticket count of 144. The 3rd finally gets some real competition this week when they face off against the 9th. Good luck to both teams - may the best team win.
Not to be forgotten is the "pride of TG", the 7th. After last weeks drubbing of two of the lesser teams in the BFCL competition, the 7th finally faces a team that may offer a challenge. As many of you recall, the 7th demolished the 52nd in a match that the 52nd could only field 4 players in. During one round in that match the 7th suffered only a single casualty. The 7th then faced off against the combined teams of Soldiers of Chaos/Surfals =SoC=/<<S>>. Despite the liberal use of punctuation in their tag, they were no match for the 7th. =SoC=/<<S>> was similarly annihilated by TAW in week one. =SoC=/<<S>> now sits at the bottom of the standings having lost 2 games by a net total of -244 tickets after 2 weeks of play. The 7th is at the top of the standings with 2 wins and 344 net tickets. TAW sits in 3rd place with 104 tickets and 2 wins. Given that TAW beat the 9th in week one, they should give the 7th a run for its money and prove to be a good test of the 7ths mettle. Good luck to both teams. Give ‘em hell 7th.
For some perspective, match settings are total ticket count after two rounds, with each side switching sides after playing a round. The time limit is 30 mins per round with a ticket count of roughly 100 per side. There are 5 weeks (including this weeks matches) left in the regular season. After the regular season ends, the best teams will be invited to the playoffs. Seeding will go by record, then point differential. Playoffs are an elimination scenario where the team that looses is out and the team that wins goes on to the next round.

hmm, looks like 2 good match-up this week for TG, and all 3 squads should be in for a good fight. The scrim should be interisting with the 9th and 3rd on the same side, just remember that your on the same side durring the scrim. Good luck to all 3 squads.

Re: BFCL Week 3 Preview
Nice post, it really helps to set the mood for the upcoming weekend. I could almost hear the drumrolls and bombastic pre-game anthems :-)
Can't wait to read about the results and the well-earned brag-fest which will inevitably follow.
Good luck to all teams!
