Fall of Berlin: NEVER GIVE UP

If my computer wasn't a pile of poo, I would run FRAPS or something on these fun rounds.

I entered the first round of Berlin as EU, in Guardian's squad as his only SM. The EU lacked Outpost, armor, and tickets. We wound down the final tickets by recapturing Outpost and driving the APC out for one last hurrah.

The second round saw Guardian starting an armor squad, and that filled up quickly. We piled down the road towards Crossroads, and got in a standoff with EU armor and engineers. We had no CO and no supplies, so Guardian just kept the APC alive while myself and other engineers just kept repairs up.

After bleeding out to at least a fifty ticket deficit, I went CO just for the hell of it. I'm bad at it, but there's little strategizing to do at that point: supplies for armor, EMP/OS on enemy armor, UAV at an appropriate spot, spam spotting for squads that slip through. Somehow, PAC managed to push to Crossroads and Roadblock and reversed some of the ticket loss, but stalled out at Square and Outpost. We were destined to lose to the initial ticket deficit, until...

Guardian punched an APC through to Outpost, offloading the 21st's Telorn and his squad before getting RDX'd. Despite being initially outnumbered at Outpost, his squad held the position long enough to neutralize the flag, and at some point, Square had gone neutral as well. The enemy was out of moves. I OS'd a lone EU soldier off of the flag that Telorn had died to neutralize, and PAC won with 9 tickets by cap-out. I really need to take SS.

I read the title and thought this might be about the round you SL'd on Cerbere a couple of weeks ago. Similar storyline - team losing badly, pulled off a cap-out win with 7 tickets or something left. Great round.

Re: Fall of Berlin: NEVER GIVE UP

I was on the other team and SM in a non tg-squad. It was an exciting round indeed!

I think the tickets where something like 70-20 when i died defending roadblock. Looked at the map. Then we had roadblock, square and outpost i think.

I then noticed square being rushed, while roadblock was fiercly being attacked. I almost spawned square, but then noticed the APC going for outpost. I had noticed earlier Guardian was in it. I also knew Fehmart was somewhere! I spawned engy at outpost. Took out the apc with Guardian in it. Saw three guys on the flag, think i managed to take out one before i was killed. Thought we'd secure the flag then.

Took up the map and all our flags where suddenly lost. We had roadblock and outpost neutral. One guy at roadblock soon died, so we lost that. Acreo was the last alive on outpost (he was SL for squad 4). The flag was neutral and he went for it. I got ready to spawn in. Then the orbital came and i thought, hah, he'll survive that. But he didn't and the game ended something like 39-9.

    So lucky
