AAR: BFCL Season 2!
Well, the new season of BFCL kicked off this evening. With 3 teams from TG once again taking part (the 21st, the 3rd and the 9th) we can hope for both some fun TG vs TG matchups as well as hopefully a repeat of last season's strong TG finish (1st, 2nd and 4th).
This first evening had a couple of premium matchups. The first was the 3rd facing off against one of TG's newest teams, the |TG-21st| Blackjacks. Another great matchup featured the 9th MID against the 3rd AC. For those not in the know, the 3rd AC accused TG 3rd of hacking after taking a loss against them last season (pilum headshotting, crashing their server while we had a lead and pistol headshots were the charges laid at our feet).
3rd vs 21st
Coming in as defending champions, the 3rd enters with a big bullseye on their chest. First to try and take them down are TG's own Blackjacks! The map was 16 player Sidi, which is the only BFCL map to feature a gunship.
Round one featured the 3rd starting as the EU team, and the 21st as PAC. The 3rd opened with a bold buggy assault on EU's Warehouses flag, while the 21st sent only a lone man for that flag while they sent most of their infantry for the central Reactor Core flag. The 3rd capped Warehouses, denying the 21st their walker, and promptly dug in for the long haul. Meanwhile they also capped Offices on the far side of the map with their APC and Tank, and brought their walker into the fray.
The 3rd sent a three-man infantry team against the 21st in the middle. After exchanging some bullets, the 3rd eventually prevailed. They now held all three flags, and had a heavy ticket bleed going. The 21st tried several times to gain another foothold, but the 3rd held them off and fought out the round for an 86-0 victory.
The second round saw the two teams switch sides. The third this time sent their APC and Tank to Warehouses, and pushed their main infantry attack at REactor Core. They were able to cap both flags without resistance, and holding two flags held their ground. With ticket bleed in their favor, the 3rd had the 21st in a position where they had to attack. The 21st made several valiant attempts to cap either flag, but were ultimately unsuccessful. The 3rd again came away the winners, this time 77-0.
A good opening for the 3rd, but a solid first effort from the 21st! Good playing all around and the match was definitely played in good spirits by both teams.

I have to give a round of applause to the 3rd Special Forces. Tactically they really seem to have it all together. Nice job and good luck with the rest of the season.

Re: AAR: BFCL Season 2!
During Week II of this season’s BFCL competition, the 9th Mobile Infantry Detachment won a hard fought match against Lazy Company on the Verdun map by a score of 72-0.
On a side note, the Spearheads have the next two weeks off from competition and return to league play during Week V.

Re: AAR: BFCL Season 2!
Week 2 - 3rd Special Forces Detachment at Soldiers of Chaos/Surfals
Map was 16p Verdun and the match was played on the 3rd's server.
General strategy was to win the armor battle and leverage the apc to control the map.
Round 1 went more or less according to plan. We secured church, took out enemy armor, and then punished their infantry with our armor. We jumped on an opportunity to take their back flag and secured it but meanwhile they managed to sneak a guy through and steal our back flag and then church behind us. With no commander under BFCL rules it's a lot easier to sneak around like this. Lesson learned - need to do a better job babysitting back flags.
Round 1 result:
3rd SFD - 59, SoC - 0
Round 2 saw the 3rd as the recipients of the lovely PAC walker bug which put us at a severe disadvantage. SoC was playing infantry heavy so our 4 ground pounders were facing 6 enemies as well as their apc and walker. By the time we sorted it out we were at a ticket disadvantage. We made a strong comeback attempt but came up a little short in the end.
Round 2 result:
3rd SFD - 0, SoC - 2
Net result:
3rd SFD - 57 and 1 seriously pissed off walker pilot, SoC - 0
Thanks to SoC for a well played match, hope to play you guys again soon.Last edited by Hidus; 08-20-2007 at 12:46 PM.
