It's possible to win as PAC on Minsk
I threw on Minsk today as something different. Before anyone gets the wrong idea, there are absolutely no plans to add it to the rotation. It is a truly awful map. Take all the misery of meat grinding at toll station in gibraltar or at crossroads in fall of berlin, then add a couple of apcs, a tank or two, and an additional walker. Then, make it so that unlike gibraltar, you reach the choke point BEFORE you can neutralize the bleed. Yuck.
However, variety is the spice of life, so I like to mix things up every now and then. And I just wanted to show you that, yes, it's possible to win on PAC. I'd love to say that it was my brilliant squad leading that led to the breakthrough, but it was actually Dark_Viper who gets that honor. Screen shots:

Yeah that was pretty awesome Drac managed to break through in the first round just to have the rest of the team ignore him and continue throwing them selves at the front line... *sigh*
Unfortunately the rounds were spoiled by people breaking this rule : http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlef...-vehicles.html
This definatelly happened in the first round and I think it happened in the second round. Shame its almost impossible to get their names.

I came home from work, and looked on Xfire for some reason and saw this on and was so excited. Jumped on for the better half of the second round.

Not sure but Minsk is rare on the rotation it should be an easy find.
Edit: Found one of the rounds but the second isn't there. How... convenient... :PLast edited by Incurable; 08-15-2007 at 10:17 PM.

Re: It's possible to win as PAC on Minsk
Woops sorry, I'll admit it was me on the 2nd round. I don't read the 2142 forums much and I didn't realize it was against the rules, expecially since I saw it done 3 times in the first round. Also the gunship was sitting on the pad for 1+ minutes so nobody was trying to use it to kill armor, still that's no excuse for breaking the rules.

I'll man up for spawning on DV when he was on the flag. I didn't know he hadn't read the rules and thought he got blown out of the gunship but bailed, giving him the benefit of the doubt.
I'll go sit my self in the corner now. <Puts traffic cone on head>

Re: It's possible to win as PAC on Minsk
ahah. then i take back this post. PAC almost certainly would have lost if Viper had followed the rules. It's sad that only something like that manages to even the map. If only they have provided a transport for PAC...
by the way, it's not in the rotation at all. i put it up for a one time thing.

Or if PAC had a couple of Goliaths would be fun!

Heh, actually, I think Goliaths would be really ineffective here, way too slow and not enough room for them to hide and destroy infantry. The Hachi would be devastatingly effective here though.

It's funny what a good sprint and NOT shooting at the first enemy unit you see can do

I was disappointed that after our squad broke through and capped two back flags that the team didn't follow up, even after I told the comm. that we were capping them.
