AAR: Camp Gibraltar 8/21/07
The battle lines were drawn. The PAC devils had entrenched themselves at Camp Gibraltar and it was going to be hell to root them out. But it was our job to try and by god we'd give it our best.
I can't say as my squad was hand-picked. Truth be told half of them I'd not set eyes on but once or twice around camp. They were an odd bunch, with names like HeadShotDan, Tooyoo, Koreck and Stratz. Not a one of them had a good old-fashioned name like Crux15.. except that fella FYAH29.
Before as I get too sidetracked, let me lay down the plan as it came to me. We took a FAV from the landing point and loaded up. As much as I hated the need, my trusty Voss was stored away - the Lambert was the gun for this job. With my active camo all set up, we took off speeding right off the bat. Now some folks like to take it nice and slow on 'Campy Gibby' as the boys called it. Not me. I reckon the faster and harder you hit 'em the more chance you catch them sitting on the crapper with last Sunday's holo-paper.
So we blew right up the ramp, running over a few folk along the way. Can't say as I'm a violent sort, but the sound of those PAC bastards screaming as the wheels churned them over made me feel a mite bit warm and tingly inside. Soon as we came up on the Toll Station though I saw trouble. Mines. Good thing as I'd been expecting it eh?
We jumped out of the buggy, and I sent the boys onto the flag as a distraction. Meanwhile I activated the camoflage and went flanking along the east side. Those PAC boys caught a glimpse of me and put a bullet in my arse to prove it, but I soldiered on anyway. Might be as the gods were smiling on me, but somehow I made it through. The boys stuck with me, podding in on my location and delaying the fellas who had a notion to try and catch us.
We skipped right on by Camp Central and went for Ruins. Well, the rest of them did. While they were hitting there I kept on going right into the Lion's Den. Running around to the back side of the EU base, the boys came on my location again and pushed against their defenses. It was a quick take, and before you know it we were the ones on the defense. Truth be told I thought we had it, but then again I thought we'd get a little help from those good for nothings we called comrades.
They were too many, and we fell back before the onslaught. Not one to give up easily, we loaded up another FAV, and made a break for it again. This time we made it almost clear to the back. I had my Voss with me at this point, and we made another push. Skipping Central again, we went after Ruins in force this time. It wasn't no distraction but the real thing. Those girls from the EU couldn't stand up to it, and we pushed them right on out. Not for long though, as once again we were left on our own and they came back in force for us.
Not as I'm one to complain, but I'd have thought the first time might have given the rest of our fellas something to think about. Thinking's not their forte as it turns out and we lost Ruins again. Time to start over!
Now I can see what you're thinking over there with your beady eyes - if they fell for the buggy rush twice, what kind of idiot would be taken a third time. Well, can't say as I know for sure all the kinds of idiots as would, but the EU soldiers were a few sandwiches short of a picnic if'n you catch my drift. We raced right through Toll Station yet again. This time though there was a walker waiting on us. Good thing as I'm handy behind the wheel!
I swerved around his legs, crashed into a barricade and jumped out running for my life! You'd think with a walker standing right there are three or four EU pansies shooting at me I'd be dead as can be. You'd think wrong. Seems the EU shipment on contact lenses couldn't get through the blockade this month. Not a one of those bastards could shoot straight, and a little worse for wear I made it into the tower on the east. I hid inside for a minute while the boys assembled.
Massing together we made a break for it but the walker spotted us. Jumping down from the wall, we raced towards Central Camp. Seeing as the walker couldn't get in there, I figured as it was our best chance of making it out alive. I almost didn't, as one of the EU fellas gunned me down right as I was turning the corner. Sharp a stick one of the boys got to me right quick and I was up again and moving.
We secured the area right quick, and then it was a matter of weathering the storm. It was a storm alright. They hit us from everywhere. Somehow we held them off. Long enough for the others to finally show up and help out a bit. Being as they hadn't even taken Toll Station with all the distractions we'd offered, I was a bit surprised to see it finally fall to our boys.
After trading lead with EU for a bit, they slipped a few fellas past us and nabbed Toll Station from behind our backs. Two can play at that game! I took the boys and we charged across the catwalk into the EU Base. It took us a while, but we cleaned the rat's nest out and somehow held it against their counter-attack. Thank god for those frag grenades!
We kept fighting the good fight. Right when it seemed we might have turned the tide, the brass back at home pulled the plug! Tactical retreat they called it. Turning yellow's what I'd say. Not much as I could do about it though. We packed up and shipped out, leaving the sounds of gunfire and explosions behind. We'd be back though. Eventually.

I wanted to give a major shout-out to my squad from this round.
Tooyoo_
Stratz
Koreck
FYAH29
HeadShotDan
It's not often I get 5 random guys who do such a brilliant job of following orders and making things work. But this time I did. They did everything they were supposed to. Stuck close, held spawn at the right time. Went for the right flags. Did an amazing job with the revives.
I can't say enough good things about their efforts. Our scores weren't amazing. We even lost the round. But we took five flags behind the lines. Ruins twice, EU Base twice, and Central Camp. You simply can't ask any more of a squad. Hat's off to you guys!

Re: AAR: Camp Gibraltar 8/21/07
Aye Crux,
Was my squad on you all three times. I saw you cammoed when you slipped by us the first time. I saw all our other squads heading for you and told the CM we had you and have the remainder of our team stay on toll. I had all new guys on my squad as well. We chased you like mad. A soon as I thought our six was clear and we'd head back to toll ZOOOOM there went another FAV. "back to ruins boys" I never realized it was you (your squad)I was after for most of the round. Anyway the squad I had followed orders well for non TG'ers and I was happy to have them. Good fight."Frag the weak, hurdle the dead."

Nice write up, and it was hilarious by the third attempt at the buggy rush, still can't believe there were no mines. Nice driving Crux!
