Titan Server 9/10
After playing a few rounds on the titan server tonight I decided to start a gunship squads. A good friend of mine was in my squad so I was playing a little looser than I usually do. We were just trying to have a good time. I was piloting and my friend was gunning. About half way through the round we went to grab the gunship after respawning and a random non TG player that wasn't in my squad took the pilot seat. I ended up in the gunner seat. We had been in it all round so I was taken by surprise when I pressed E and ended up rocketing off with some guy that had no idea what to do with it. After flying to the other side of the map I my pilots name come up with the "you will be kicked if you don't join a squad" message. I held my finger over the F1 key and waited... Finally he got booted from the server and I took control of the falling gunship. I got a good laugh out of that. I could have been in trouble if I hadn't been ready for it because we weren't very high at the time.
My gunner and I spent most of our time hunting for the other teams air assets. I saw the same player jump out of the gunship and let it crash at least three times after we scared him with gunfire or a single missile. Apparently he wasn't prepared for a dogfight so we didn't have much trouble from the air until someone that knew how to fly took control. This second pilot seemed like he was doing nothing but hunting us. We were having a very hard time staying in the air. He knew exactly where we were at all times and would come at a perpendicular angle and cut us down before we had a chance to react. When we looked behind us he came from the side and when we looked sideways he came from behind. Most of the time we never even saw where he came from. The lesson I took from this is: people on the ground should spot air assets as often as possible. I always do this but now I know from experience how important this is.

Aye, one of the single most frustrating things can be a team that doesn't help you out. On the flip side of it, often times they're not low enough to be seen/spotted. Attaching a PDS to your gunship can go quite a long way in helping you out.

I was using a PDS but it didn't help very much in that game. The only times it caught anything the gunship icon was right on top of mine and I couldn't tell if he was above or below me.

Also, I think that the radar will show you as being over or under them as well if you cross paths. I'm not 100% sure on this, so I'm gonna try and see if this is true tonight.

Were you being gunned down as soon as you left the titan. You have to be careful because if timed correctly the enemy gunship can hide around the titan and wait for you to take off. Then follow you a bit and line up a sure kill.

Re: Titan Server 9/10
I attempted to do that as well. I fly with a mouse and I recently changed my camera view controls so that I could change them with my mouse so I wouldn't have to take my hand off of it to switch back and forth. I've always had great success with customizing my controls but I never thought about using it for vehicle combat until now. It's been working very well most of the time.
