Medic is medic, SF is SF, engi is engi, etc.

I really would like to see soldiers be able to pick they're weapon rather than having to choose the standard or unlocked weapon with that kit (aka, interchangeable weapons). There are times when I need an SMG when in close quarters, but i don't want to have to be a engineer to use it. And sometimes, an engineer just can't engage in long-range combat because he is stuck with an SMG. Granted, there should be weapon limitations on certain kits (don't need medics carrying M249s and SR-25's).
I agree with you there. For example, why is a recon in 2142 stuck with a pistol as the sidearm to a sniper rifle, whereas the engineer has an SMG as his sidearm when his main "rifle" (I'm talking Pilum here) is twice the size of a sniper rifle? Or a flippin' rocket basket? Guys who tote real sniper rifles typically carry a machine gun with them (auto or semi) and carry their sniper rifle in a separate bag that can be dragged behind them as they stalk.

I'd really like to see 1942 reworked with a new engine. Look at how popular WW2 games still are. The planes were a lot of fun in 1942, but in BF2 the jets fly too fast for my to hit crap. I became good with choppers in BF2, but it just isn't the same. I miss bombing all the noobs waiting for a plane on the Carrier deck.

I miss my Kar98!

That would make the Recon kit too powerful - Engineers get a SMG because their main weapon is anti-vehicle, not anti-personell.

Give them the best long range weapon, along with the the best (or 2nd to shotty) close range weapon, and you have a beast class, and no longer Reconnaissance. Throw in active camo and RDX or APMs for the win.

If you don't believe that the sniper rifle can make an effective mid-range weapon, Damonte thinks you'll be pleased to meet his squad-mate Guardian. He'll be returning to BF2142 very shortly now.

Actually, it can be a good close-range weapon in the right hands.

However, engineer anti-armor weapons can be devastating anti-personnel weapons in the right hands. Just ask the guys I've sniped off of roofs with Pilums, or the people who have used the stock anti-armor rockets in tight Titan hallways against my team.

As far as long range superiority goes, sure the sniper rifle's got the edge, but at sniper zoom range, I've been two and three shotted by guys with a Voss (sometimes Baur). Whether that's an aimbot or not is debatable. Let's not forget rockets to even out the "range wars."

If the assault class gets an upgrade to turn it into a long range beast without sacrificing short and medium range power (not to mention not even having to "hit" the target, simply being "close enough" is good enough), shouldn't the long range class get the same consideration?

Let's just say the sniper rifle is pretty hard to use without the scope at medium range. With the scope, it's deadly, if you can kill before being killed. At very close range, either rifle is far more effective at the "one shot, one kill" than even a shotgun is (armor or no armor).

I'm not sure how effective an assault class would be if most were using it for its long-range capability. The assault class was meant to engage at medium-to-close range combat. Long-range is what the Recon class excels at and is for.

Re: Battlefield 3 leaked????

Well, my reasoning for saying that was because in Project Reality Mod, everyone has the standard weapon (M16/AK47) with the ocassional specialized weapon (SF/Shotty). Now if they could have a standard rifle for everyone, and then have unlockable rifles, that would be great.

Question for you military guys: Is it possible to attach scopes atop a standard rifle attachment rail?

And, snipers can carry this.
