Re: What is going on????

Same place I think, but Game-Monitor says the server was added days ago. Maybe that is why there is so much server crashes and lag spikes?

Yah. We moved over there to play for a bit because the conquest was basically unplayable.

Re: What is going on????

We are certainly looking into this and working up solutions and some tests.

Being a network/technical/processing issue, small details and accurate data regarding what is happening make the difference between implementing the right fix and implementing something that will just make the problem worse.

I have made some additional tweaks and will be looking to see how well things run this evening.

Re: What is going on????

Just for the record, and I haven't played in the past couple of days, but I've been experiencing lag spikes for some time now on the TG server--maybe a month, month and a half. My ping will go from 30's/40's to over 400 in the blink of an eye, sometimes higher. Thought I'd add that in case it helps with troubleshooting. (I'm in NW Florida, btw, in case location makes a difference, and last I checked, I had about eight hops between me and the server IP.)

we should remember next time to keep moxy slightly more calm. Well, it was fun along with G, Dog, Doc, and some of the other laid-back guys of the 8th- and Moxy, don't kick me for not paying attention to the world!

Re: What is going on????

Last night (November 3, 2007) was pretty typical behavior from the 2142 TG server lately. There were numerous lag spikes lasting between 2 - 4 seconds in duration to the extent that the game displayed the "connection problem" text across my display. I was able to confer with a few folks in the squad that it just wasn't my connection (FiOS - Pennsylvania). This happened about 11 times across 7 rounds on three different maps between 8:30PM and 11:00PM (EDT).

I'm a network architect/engineer and would be happy to assist in troubleshooting this problem. We could setup a few tools to monitor the round trip times (RTT) using ICMP with SmokePing. If the ISP is multihomed it almost looks like either EIGRP, OSPF or BGP is converging for a few seconds causing a quick blip. If that is the case a simple continuous ping (ICMP) should point that out pretty quick.

It looks like the ISP is peer1.net (www.peer1.com) and they have at least two tier 1 uplinks to AT&T and Sprint.

Re: What is going on????

just a note, my ping on the server the last couple of times i was on was almost always in the 3 digits.

Before about 3 weeks ago, my ping ranged from 7-15.

I hope this is helpful information
