Looking for an In-house squad in my schedule
Hey everyone you might know me in game as Eagle Ghost. Well I have a problem and some of you might be able to help me. I’m wanting to join an in-house squad but my work and school schedules do not allow much gaming when everyone else is on (as I work nights). So I was wondering if there was a way I could join. I have looked throught the in-house squads wiki's amd could only find a few with there training schedules on them so I cant pick one to try and join that could fit my schedule. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Re: Looking for an In-house squad in my schedule
Most of the in-house squads play in the evenings and on weekends--do you work weekends, as well? If not, you could still participate on the weekends, which is when a lot of competition events occur. If you can, try to get on the conquest server and squad up with some of the people in a few of the IHS's. That way, you can get a feel for personalities and where you might feel comfortable. Many of the in-house squads will try to work with your schedule if you have the right attitude.

Re: Looking for an In-house squad in my schedule
Let me start by saying that what I am about to say is completely my own opinion and anything that is incorrect should be corrected by a member of any of the IHS's.
It's been my experience that the 2 IHS's with the most laid back shceduling are the 8th and the 9th. When deciding what IHS to go for I was (and still am) much in the same situation. I could not make any real time commitments as things in life always get in the way. The 3rd, 7th, and 21st are active in 2142 competitions and I believe have an active practice schedule. The 9th as far as I know does do some competitions as well but I know from talks with them that if you are not interested in this and cannot make a commitment to any scheduled practices then they are fine with that. The other squads may have this attitude as well but I do not have any personal experience with them the way I do with the 9th. The 8th however is by far the most laid back and no real time commitment is required to join. The 8th does not do any competitions and are strictly about having fun when you have time. The 8th captains are absolutely great about understanding that real life takes priority. In conclusion it sounds like (from your situation) you should do some squading with the 8th and 9th and see which of those two fits your style better. The 3rd, 7th, and 21st would I'm sure be happy to have you as well and I wouldn't want to speak for them so I will defer to one of their members to clear up any time commitments that are involved with joing their squads. In the end it's a decision that you should take some time when making. I can personally say that my squadies have become very fast and very close friends. In the end remember that joining one squad or another should not mean that you are distancing yourself from any of the other squads. We are all still family together but the squad seperation is more about play style and time commitment differences.

Re: Looking for an In-house squad in my schedule
You could certainly do worse than to join TeamSpeak and start hanging out in channels with In House Squad-members. The IHS are just about all recruiting right now, and some of them announce when they are holding tryouts, but getting to know them first is the best way.
Ask politely if you'd be disturbing them by hanging out, and I bet you get welcomed enthusiastically. Also, check out the wiki page for each IHS and see which suits you the best. Rali3gh does a great job in the previous post detailing what each is like.

Re: Looking for an In-house squad in my schedule
Let me start by asking why you feel the need to join an IHS?
I'll follow that up by suggesting the Irregulars. They are a great bunch of people and we always look to them first when we decide to actively recruit.

Re: Looking for an In-house squad in my schedule
A couple of notes to add:
1) To my knowledge the 7th is no longer active as an IHS in BF2142. There are still some 7th guys playing 2142, but as a squad they are no longer competing/playing 2) Talk to the leaders of each IHS to find out what they are like. Every squad is different, and a lot of what is said about each is as much rumor as fact. I was once told the 3rd ran training sessions every night. This was surprising to me, given I run the 3rd If you want a true means of evaluation, find out what they need from you, and what they're looking for. Then find out if they can give you what you want. Then your decision is easier. But find out from the source, not the rumor-mill! None of the IHS leaders bite. Except maybe Lorax. Lorax has rabies.

Re: Looking for an In-house squad in my schedule
The 3rd takes Sundays off to compete, so technically they only really practice 6 days a week.
And the whole rabies thing, that's a myth, it's never been proven.

Lorax is just a big softie who's heart is two sizes too big. He only barks and froths at the mouth because otherwise everyone would know!

Re: Looking for an In-house squad in my schedule
Crux makes a great point and while I am sure it was not directed specifically at my post he is correct. Don't take anything in my post as gospel because I could be way off base. As I said in my post, I have no direct experience with any IHS's time commitment requirements with exception to the 8th and 9th. I in no way want anyone to think that I am suggesting you not look into the other squads, I am just saying that I don't have the information to give you for those particular squads. My suggestion of the 8th or 9th is solely based on my personal experience with these two squads and my knowledge of their time commitment policies.

My main point is, don't find out information second or third hand when the original sources are on these message boards every day and would gladly answer questions you might have in a pm. From the sounds of things the 3rd probably wouldn't be a good fit for your schedule. But of the IHS you are interested in, contact their leaders and see what they have to say!

Re: Looking for an In-house squad in my schedule
I started in the Irregs and they are a great bunch of guys, come to think of it, most IHS members seemed to start with the irregs. Check out their wiki and the rest of the wiki's as well, you have a lot to chose from. Jump in our teamspeak channels and ask for invites if you are interested in getting to know the different groups but no matter what decision you make you cant make a wrong one here at TG.
