1.4 Patch Thoughts

The patch has been out for a couple of days now and I'm curious to hear what people's thoughts are so far.

Having only spent time on Highway Tampa, I can only comment a little, but to start it feels like the support kit got a LOT more dangerous. The speed and power of both the clark and sentry is just unreal.

The Baur seems to be much more useable but I didn't put much time in with it.

And lastly, my kits don't seem to be saving, odd.

Re: 1.4 Patch Thoughts

You have to spawn with that paricular kit for it to save, I noticed that my kits saved my preferences if I had spawned with the kit. Which is awsome, less time to get into a map for the first time of the day. Feedback last night was that the support kit is much more deadly and the sentry deploys and engages faster, plus mor accurate. I have yet to use it since the patch, but I was killed by one last night.....nearly spit my beer out.
Tha map is great and with a full server there is a lot of battles going on. You really get to improve on your engy skills, you WILL learn to kill with the SMG.

Re: 1.4 Patch Thoughts

Haven't had a chance to hit Highway Tampa yet. I'm hoping to get in on some of that action tonight after work and other obligations. From what I hear, it should be a lot of fun.

As for everything else regarding the patch - yes, Support is more dangerous now. A *lot* of people are going Clark - I've been killed more with it in the past three days than with any other gun, I swear! I used the Clark a bit last night myself and it is definitely improved - also used the other LMGs and found them fairly well improved as well.

Didn't have a chance to test the Clark RDX or anything like that, however. I did do some drone work as squad lead the night the patch came out and it was so much nicer not dying when the drone popped out! And having drones ready for redeploy if they were destroyed certainly made my life a bit less hectic.

So, all in all, I think things wound up fairly decently for this patch. It'll take a bit more play to give more definite impressions, but here's what I had so far.

Anxious to play the Tampa map as we need an armor/vehicle centered map in my opinion. I played very briefly last night and as mentioned the shotgun now seems to be a bit more automatic. Look forward too seeing what the other changes have brought.

I noticed this as well, the support guys that I used to tear through before they could get their second buck shot off are now ripping me to shreds (litterally). Good times.

Re: 1.4 Patch Thoughts

The Clark now seems to be mandatory in any squad that plans on attacking infantry. If the predominance of them remains, the basic squad structure may well have to be revised and assault/medics may find themselves relegated to more of a medic and support role.

The Scar is much improved; I now think I'll be using the default ARs predominantly, especially for the increased lethality at medium range. Staying away from those shotguns seems critical now, especially since the shotgun seems to murder light armor.

Smokes are improved, though not that tremendously. They still simply don't cover enough or last long enough, in my opinion.

Finally, not having to resupply drones is amazingly useful.

Re: 1.4 Patch Thoughts

- For the longest time, I could equip RDX as a PAC recon. This eventually fixed itself though.

- I've been using the Clark since I unlocked it, so it's gonna take a while getting used to the firing speed now.

- Unlimited drones is awesome. Reaperassault knows this.

Re: 1.4 Patch Thoughts

My kits don't always save properly, even if I have spawned in with the kit in question in a previous round. For instance, despite the fact that I had spawned as support a few times in the previous round, I (thankfully) checked my kit before spawning the next round to find that I had the drone and shield equipped. I never pull those out on the conquest server. Ever. That annoys me. Otherwise, I like the latest changes to the game, so far.

Re: 1.4 Patch Thoughts

Even though it is buggy, not having to set up all my kits completely every time makes me happy. I'm also glad they have made it more difficult to pod spin. I'm pretty happy about the Clark change too, but a little sad that means more IDS coming into play.

Re: 1.4 Patch Thoughts

I won't be playing till the weekend, so I was wondering: Did they alter the baur any? either way, is the assault kit still tops at killing troops or do the shotguns own at close to medium range?

Re: 1.4 Patch Thoughts

1v1, vs support shotty, it is much more of a toss up now, if not an outright advantage for shotty it feels like. Definatly a lot less leeway in time to get on target and hose them down. ( Since a lot of people tend to miss w/ shotty and/or often took 2-3 shots if it wasnt a perfect close range blast without losing any pellets) I didnt recall any notes about the LMG's someone mentioned as being improved, this true, or just meant the Scar AR?

Re: 1.4 Patch Thoughts

1.4 seems to be pretty cool so far, especially with Tampa (played about a 1 hour game on it last night), but I was embarassed to find that I hadn't noticed that the heavy armor was not on by default and I was running around in light. I was wondering how I had been getting killed so quickly, lol...

I haven't played with it much, as I've never been a Baur person, but the SCAR is also pretty nasty now. They fixed the recoil on it so it's actually useful. More people are finding themselves using the SCAR now instead of the Voss or the Baur, simply because it's more equitable than it used to be.

Re: 1.4 Patch Thoughts

I'm loving the SCAR now. It's a big improvement, but I'm also thinking DICE is smoking crack not to change the Baur's recoil... Cmon, it's like 25% more damage over a Krylov with 500% more recoil.

Clark is nasty with new fire rate! I loved it before, and like it even more now!

Gotta try the Clark-RDX. Taking out mines and RDX should be useful, but if it takes 2 shots, it may not be that useful.

Good point - I think I may experiment with Heavy armor. I've noticed I've been getting MURDERED by Clark users, often dead in 1 hit and at times at substantial range. Heavy armor may not be so bad with a Baur. With the Baur you have the advantage of range, so why worry about closing in so fast to your weapon's weakness and your opponent's strength?

Now that I have all the sprint unlocks, including my NS moon boots, it may not be so bad.
