Re: *Internal Scrimmage Fri Dec21st*

Great suggestions Tarenth, I think this would work very well. We will work out the details of this and have it up for the scrimm, well done.

As each player is selected they should either move or be moved to the team channel so it will be easier to keep track of who is going where and what not. If you want, you can even have quiet selections where the captain messages an admin and the player is moved without their name being given over TS.

If we wait to move till the very end then I forsee several possible problems.
1) People forgetting which team picked them
2) People waiting for selection 'missing' their name being called because (like dodgeball) they were waiting till the very end
3) Not enough prep time to discuss tactics as teams are seperated and made private at the last minute

If I have to sit through 47 other people I'm going to start dozing off and might miss which team I'm on. Then I'm going to get confused and frustrated over a longer 'prep period' as we throw together a strategy.

With teams being seperated as they are formed the people on the team can start formulating a strategy in private and adapt it as more are joined. That way, even as a left over, something cohesive can be presented to us to implement the way the CO sees fit. The captain can also, if need be, shift over and ask who they already have if they have any suggestions on who they should pick next. Lastly if you have an admin moving people who are AFK during selection then they will automatically know which team they're on when they get back.
I think that's a good point. This may be a good way to accomplish what you were saying-- we could have the two captains meet with an admin over TS the day or morning before, and they could pick their players then. The teams could then be posted ahead of time on the forums.

You do take a chance of someone not showing for some reason or another. It would probably be best to pick the teams as Tarenth stated, but do it once everyone is there at the assigned time. You never know what could happen, someone could be picked and not be there at all.

Re: *Internal Scrimmage Fri Dec21st*

We will have to do a live school yard style pickem because of possible last minute complications and also it keeps the spirit of the pickem alive. I really like the idea of not a lot of time to plan, it will keep people on their feet and really bring out the best of all of us. I am sure there will be issues but this community is so awesome and mature that I am sure we will work through them and adjust as needed.

Re: *Internal Scrimmage Fri Dec21st*

Well, we don't 'have' to do a school yard pickem, but since its set up by the organizers that way we will do a school yard pickem.

There are pros and cons to each way you set it up, but this way of picking teams seems both different and interesting. Anyhow there is a big difference between 'little' time to plan and 'no' time to plan. A lot of prep works needs to go into formulating a plan and in a scrim where everyone plays their best and plans as best they can that prep work is important.

A CO needs to be picked
Squad leaders need to be assigned tasks
Armor assets need to be assigned
IHS members need to join squads
NonIHS need to be given busy work that won't interrupt IHS cohesiveness

If you think I'm saying the last two in jest then look at how things were organized for the Titan scrims and even the Warhawk scrim. IHS members work together well because they train together and have longer contact and experience with each other than other players. nonIHS members are delegated to tasks of some importance that could be considered 'busy work' or attached to a primarily IHS squad as a replacement for someone who is missing or assigned a crucial task elsewhere.

Meh...I don't mind being assigned busy work. Its just like playing on a Learn TG squad while the IHS have locked squads on our public servers. Its business as usual. Except in scrims we get to see them stretch their legs more and multiple IHS squads work together without worry of team balance.

Re: *Internal Scrimmage Fri Dec21st*

Something to keep in mind for the team captains as teams are being picked: Aruncado and I play in the same room. Therefore, it is very easy for us to accidentally overhear each others' voice comms as we talk over TS or VOIP. We were on different teams on the last internal scrim in which we participated, and I, at least, found it very difficult to completely tune him out. So, in the spirit of sportsmanship, I would ask that we be picked onto the same team.

Re: *Internal Scrimmage Fri Dec21st*

I would say that the team captains will probably have a list of whom they would like and what thiuer tasks would be. If it where me, I would have primary squad leaders picked, with back-ups in case my picks where picked, then move on from there. Already have a plan in mind and some sort of strat. There are 3 days to battle, I am sure our captains have it together.

You obviously do not know Lorax74 very well. We'll be lucky if he shows up on time, remembers that he is a captain, and can figure out how to unmute his microphone. Pray you get on Crux's team!

This will show the ingenuity of the community. I like the idea and the uncertainty of which team will get the worst shot...(me)....

Umm Tarenth....eGoatboy is in the 6th..*cough founding member cough*
