It's a little early for the announcement but this is a new competition at BFCL and I thought it proper to post sooner rather than later so that rules and such can be discussed and chewed on.

I am going to throw my hat into the ring and try to form a team for this competition. My fellow Spearheads in the 9th Mobile Infantry Detachment may combine efforts with another in-house squad to play in this division, but I think this is a perfect opportunity to get more of the community involved in the BFCL. The league is a lot of fun and game play within its matches is as exciting and tactical as our internal scrimmages. My hope is that enough members within this team will enjoy their experience with the BFCL to form their own squads for the 8v8 Full Combat or 5v5 Infantry divisions.

One of the most difficult aspects of playing in the BFCL is forming, organizing and leading a team. As someone who has helped the 9th MID compete in three seasons, I hope to avoid a lot of the pitfalls we experienced when first starting out. After all, part of being a Tactical Gamer is working together to help everyone enjoy the game.

So, onto the particulars. While the roster for each match will be set at 12 soldiers, we will need at least 18 members on the team. This will provide us with a large enough reserve to ensure we have a full compliment of players each week. Everyone interested in joining the team must be able to commit to the full season. One thing that will stop a squad dead in its tracks is a lack of interest toward the middle or end of the schedule. This isn’t to say you would need to play in every match, as scheduling conflicts are natural in any league, but team members must contribute each and every week in some capacity.

The focus of this team will be twofold. First, it will provide members of the community who have not been able to play on a squad with an opportunity to become involved in the BFCL. Anyone new to the league will be given priority over veterans for a slot on the roster. This means all members of TG playing Battlefield 2142 are welcome to join the team.

Secondly, the team will be centered around having fun, enjoying fair and friendly competition, and forming friendships within the community. We will certainly develop strategies for each map, perhaps conduct a few practices, and play to win each match, but our emphasis will be on enjoying the moment and not the team’s record. This means everyone will get a chance to play, no matter their skill level or previous competition experience.

At this point, if anyone is interested in joining such a team for the BFCL 12v12 Titan division, please send me a PM. If there is enough initial response, I will start a separate thread to try and fill out the roster.

I'll have to look into the particulars a bit more and see how well it will work with my schedule, but I may be interested in doing this myself. I've never done BFCL before and am definitely interested in it.

Nicely said Pfeil (both he and Lorax are a big reason why the 9th were voted best sportsmen in their first 8v8 season).

I believe the "Ticket Total" victory is simply an oversight by Stalker, who has been pulling double duty as overall league administrator and 2142 division manager for some time now. There's been some discussion of potential victory conditions here, all ideas are welcome:

Nice to see some broad interest here, especially from the Irregulars and 8th. 3rd, 9th, and 21st have been representing very well and with our recent merger with the 3FL league and the teams that were competing there, this Titan season has a lot of potential to be our best 2142 season yet.

Also, there's been some talk of a 2142 mega-scrim, a mix of teams for some 32v32 action! This might happen during the break between 5v5 and 12v12. I'll drop an announcement here when details get finalized.

I would be so interested in this, but not this league, when the next one roles around I should have a great computer, a supporting membership and freedom to play. I'm gonna have to go on another extended leave of absence from TG from tomorrow (Monday) onwards till about the early Summer, by which time the new machine, SM and FFoW money should've found its way to me .

I received permission to move forward with this team, which will be under the Tactical Gamer banner and called Joint Task Force One or |TG-JTF1|. This will not be an independent in-house squad, rather it is a temporary team formed by members from throughout the community to compete solely in the BF2142 12v12 Titan Division. Once a private forum is setup for the team on Tactical Conflict, I will begin putting the roster together and help get everyone registered with the BFCL.
